I have a lot of memories with this forum. This is the first ever Clash of Clans community I've ever been engaged with. Even, I learned about the Discord and Reddit community from this forum. And then the rest is like a history, at least for me. So, it's certainly a sad news that it's closing.
But, it's true that the user engagement with the forum is decreasing. Even, I myself haven't visited the forum for a long time.

Whatever, the forum was a really special place for me and I am grateful to the forum for giving me tips in game, making some new friends and for everything. I'll miss you, maybe not in near future, but in a far future, I'll certainly do.

Not game but community is dying for sure.

This Forum is part of SC (or a Company), but completely different product from the game itself. You have financially supported the game (product A), not the forum (product B). You are still entitled to all you purchased with your money in the game itself, however, you or everyone doesn't need to pay money to use the Forum.

So to say that SC shutting down Forum means that SC doesn't value it's players? That is a surprise statement.
Many of the Companies doesn't need to have a Forum to value its Customers, just as long as they give or improve the Product that Customer pay for and wants/needs.
To me the game and the forum have become intertwined. When one dies, the other dies with it for me. They have stripped any of the social aspect of the game from within the game itself. My real life friends have long quit playing this game. For me this forum was the connection to the game. Seeing the challenges, having the in-depth discussions, working through problems with others. With the forums gone that disappears (for me at least).

So, while I get that you respectfully have a different take than me. The forums are as much a part of the game as the game itself as far as I'm concerned. I believe by SC shutting the forums down, they have decided that they don't value me as a customer, because that is the most important thing in this game to me. The gameplay itself has become stale, it was the interactions, challenges and community here that kept me playing the game and advancing through it.

No, i had my suspicions. The development is slow and a game with that slow of progression has its problems, the longer it exists. Not even the newest empowerments for lower townhalls to level up faster will change that and they know it.
The only reason they did that, is profit. Because Investement of Money increases the longer a new player levels up and is likely to stay with his investement.

I was curious a while back, because they optimized some things to improve revenue (and I pointed out, how sophisticated and addictive the money spending aspect is constructed. But boy was i scolded...)

To me it seems, that they are killing off costly parts to maximize profits. They could have improved customer services (instead of outsourcing it to a 3rd party).

Perhaps this cow can be milked for some more months, even years. Some new skins and a few upgrades to cash in and maximizing profits for some more. But they dont reinvest their huge earnings. At least not into this game.
And you know what? I understand! Popularity is decreasing. I can see it on twitch.

Sorry, but for me this message just incites my suspicions. I ve seen this in other games.
It`s not the community. The activity may not be high, but it is still big enough to fill 30 pages in 24 hours.

It only proves, that SC doesn`t care about its community and doesn`t want to invest a certain amount in improvements or sustainability.

Mark my words; The day is nigh, when they will shut down all services, because they don`t want to afford the servers anymore.

    This is about money.

    This is the end.

Agreed. There are things they can do to save it but unfortunately there are "more important" things for them to be doing (like reddit which no one in this forum really prefers to what we have now)

Let's take off the tin foil hats here. The forums could not keep up with the changing times. Like it or not, its fate was sealed long ago. I'm grateful that SC was willing to support the community here for so long, even when it was clear activity was dwindling. It's not something I like, but we'll have to accept it.

    Because... Numbers

The interesting thing about numbers and graphic representations is depending on the data included, a completely different story can be told. Darian's graph and talking points take NO account of forum lurkers, only of forum posts, forum accounts, etc. Lurkers have no accounts and typically there are a far greater number of these than actual members. How many posts in this thread have mentioned daily/ weekly visits for info without starting a new post? How many mentioned lurking for YEARS before creating an account?

How about a graph showing anonymous visits/reads instead? That would be a far greater measure of the forum's worth. For years I have been "the forum guy" who visits the forums to take back info to the whole clan about updates, changes, etc., usually without logging in since I rarely post.

The social aspect of this game is so crippled already... This is terrible. I am to the point where I have 12 accounts just to keep a productive clan going, and the trending change to a "pay to keep up" business model is also disturbing and disenchanting many players. I will continue gold passes and collectibles on my main but the other 11 accounts are now going to boycott mode unless the perceived attitude towards the player community improves again. IMO the sellout to Tencent was the worst decision for the longterm health of the game.

If what you said is true, then the Forum activity is buffed by the Black Magic Baba Ji Specialist posts? Since somebody must have created tons of accounts just to spam the forum on daily basis. I think you had underestimated the numbers of such spam accounts. Will it be more than the Forum lurkers? You have no idea. But if you intends to perform an audit, I will be glad to know the answer.

The point about you having 12 Clash accounts further prove that the game isn't dying even with their current service? If you think that they have such bad service you wouldn't go on to create 12 Clash accounts just to maintain your Clan. And I doubt that threatening SC with 11 of your mini accounts will have any impact on their decision to improve their current service. Good move really overall.

TBH I'm surprised the forums have remained up as long as they have with the amount of activity it receives.
In one of the discords I am in, I posted this question in January, I now have my answer.
