I think you are kidding me.... How can there be fairness in a game when different TH (levels) players can attack one another?? Surely, the more powerful one would win! They have much more troops, much high level troops, and the weak player cannot revenge because the defense is so much more powerful as well. Where is the fairness in this???

When you get destroyed by a higher town hall, the only way to prevent this from happening is to max out that town hall and move on to the next. Otherwise everyone would max out their town hall and stay there because they aren't threatened by higher level players. If you can't understand this basic concept then stop talking. lol

I am as equally frustrated as you here, because EVERYONE here understands that it is a cheap, perhaps dirty tactic.
What you fail to understand it that it is neither cowardly nor noobish, just another part of the game.
Yes, you can't defend against it and yes, it may seem stupid because you spend so much for so little, but it is a strategy (yes that's right, a strategy, if perhaps a poor one) that some people choose to use.

If it bugs you, revenge, three star and move on.

I wish you all the best and many loaded, weak and undefended bases for the future.

That is perfectly sound logic. People hunger for what others have ... it is the nature of humanity. Getting hit by the very attackers you envy can't help but inspire one to work harder to get to that level ... or in a few unfortunate cases, beat them down and cause a rage quit. Either way, there is a survival of the fittest situation going on here, and that is also part of the game, and a fact of life.

I didn't read every single post on this thread, so if I'm mirroring someone else's sentiment -- sorry.
I think that anything the game will let you do is fair game. If you complain and the developers change the rules, so be it. If not, suck it up. If the game lets you do it, it's not cheap or dirty -- it's the game. It's the players who put these labels on game tactics, not the developers creating "dirty tricks."
