Defending CC shield icon if you aren’t in a clan

I recently made an attack on a base that appeared to have no defending CC troops because there was no shield icon indicating that the CC was set to defend. Turns out during my attack that defensive troops still came out. I looked at the replay and it looks like the reason that it didn’t show a shield is because this player was no longer in a clan.

Would there be a way to just have a grey shield appearing for defending Castles if they aren’t in a clan and they have troops inside?

There shouldn't be.

You can't tell whether people IN a clan have CC troops or not. Why should you be able to tell whjether they do when NOT in a clan?
