Did no one at Supercell see this as a conflicting problem when they released the hero skin for the Barbarian King and basically had players dressing him up like a girl?

Two points:
The PEKKA is like the Alphonse Elric (Full Metal Alchemist) of Clash of Clans. In other words, it’s a hollow, enchanted suit of armor with a specific gender identity. Alphonse didn’t stop being a male after his soul was bound to an inanimate object.
The King wearing pieces of PEKKA armor is as much of a “conflict” as a man wearing a leather jacket or snakeskin boots made from the skin of a female of the species.
Thanks to TerMinus Prime for the awesome sig/avatar!
