I had to rush in order to get more walls. After that, I plan on just chilling until I'm good to continue. Just as you said.

It's a fine base layout, mortar is centralized=good.
But for now, don't worry about base layout.
It only really starts to make a difference at th 4/5 and up.

Don't take this the wrong way, but honestly I could just roll over that base with like ten archers and ten barbs. It's not your layout that is the problem, it is the fact that your defenses are so low a level (which is to be expected having just started) and so few of them that it would be hard to pose a good defense against higher town halls. This also being said, most higher town halls won't want to raid a base that offers 20k of each resource, minus their loot penalty incurred. I wouldn't trip over a base design now. If you want, just put your storages in your walls, and put your mortar and at in there, and get to a higher town hall!

Get to TH4 - max everything and move up the ranks like that. While maxing each TH you'll pick up useful tips and tricks and begin to understand the best and most effective layouts/tactics and so on. Don't rush it.

Another strategy that I have looked into is to not purchase your second gold and elixir storage until later town hall levels.... I see that you did (and I did too before I heard the strategy!). The logic behind it is that with limited walls and defenses, it is hard to split their attention to four storages, instead of two. Maybe from here on out, you could only level up one storage of each, and use the other two as bait (not completely unguarded, but whatever you think is best).
