    I’m so frustrated

I’m so frustrated; maybe you guys can help me out.

Let me start by saying how much of love this game. I have been playing for about 6 months now and have loved it.

I’m frustrated because I feel like I’m stuck. I just upgraded to Town Hall 8 and all my progress has stopped.
I can’t play all day, I work and am a father of 4, so I’m busy, but that has not been as issue in the past. I find to play and have been able to progress this far.

Now I find that when I raid I don’t find great raids, I may get 100,000 of each if I’m lucky, but it takes millions to get anything done. So I start to build up slowly but then I get raided and lose 2-300,000 of each. Well that’s 2-3 raids for me. I can’t make that back up easily. So I ride out my shield but I can’t really play during the day so I get hit again and lose even more. I could lose in a day more then I get from my mines and pumps, and are all level 10 or 11.

Part of the issue is that I am a new TH 8, so I only have level 5 Barbs and trying to get enough to upgrade my Archers. Any good raids I get are all TH 8 or 9 and the defenses are stronger or I get level 6 troops coming out of the CC and it takes spells or too many troops to stop them.

So I can’t raid, or raid enough to get anywhere. I can’t defend as everyone has level 5 or 6 troops. My base design is pretty good. It’s rare when someone will get 100%.

I feel like I’ve hit a wall and there is not point. I just can’t win so what’s the point.

Any help you guys can offer would be appreciated. I love this game but it’s starting to bring me down and games just shouldn’t do that.

    Thanks

Are you using a farming base with your town hall outside? A lot of people will snipe that and leave without going for your resources

    Two suggestions:
    1) Put your town hall outside your walls so you will get a "cheap" shield, which will protect your resources until you can log on.
    2) Maybe try a lower cup level.

I am also a father, but of 2 not 4. I have a job like you and I work out during lunch hour so no time to log in at all during the day. So definitely, it's possible to advance, don't get yourself down on this.

I'm TH 8, but it's maxed and going to TH 9. I expect to get a loot drop when I hit TH 9. Indeed, as you have mentionned in your post, when you go up in TH levels, you will get a hard loot hit and it will decrease and it's always hard at first.

What the others have mentionned is good advice: put your TH outside and go down in cups. I have no clue where you stand cup-wise, but I can tell you that 1500 cups is great.

other opinions: without having seen your base, you might think it's good because you almost never get 3 starred, but having all storages in one compartment will really kill you, especially as you probably only have 2 of them coming from TH 7. So, if not already done, segregate your storage in the core of your base, protect them with wiz towers and mortars. finally, get your third gold storage so that you loot will be divided in 3 instead of 2. if the enemy only takes 1 storage, they will get 33% of your loot instead of 50%.

Also, raiding wise, I have no clue what you use, but BAM is the most efficient and you can raid every 18 minutes, that's almost 4 times an hour. As a TH 8, granted I have lvl 5 troops, I can raid about 600 to 800K gold in one hour. that should be enough to cover your losses if the raider doesn't only attack your TH and goes for storage.

Try that and let us know how it goes. Keep working at it, adapt to the TH 8 reality and work hard. you'll be rewarded in the end, I'm having great fun.

Adopt a good farming base from the forum. It takes probably 30 mins top. Next step is to upgrade your splash towers. Mortars are not very expensive.

just dont let your builders sleep. Upgrade whatever you can when you have low resource and no time. Traps help too.

Good start posting for help here, I have no doubt that with a good base design with TH outside you can get past this hump relatively quickly.

You are right that it starts to take a long time to save up for upgrades. It just gets longer and longer, that's how the game progresses. So if that kills the fun then it's not worth going forward. But if you enjoy the struggle and the success of raiding all that loot to upgrade all that stuff, then you can get past the early stage of TH8 and enjoy the middle stage of having good troops and decent defense while upgrading the rest of your base.

Make sure you have a good clan, this is the point where advice from your clan and support as you find new techniques really helps. It also helps you burn time by chatting with your clan and donating troops.

I second what Conan said. I also have kids (2), a job, and other interests, so I can't/don't play nonstop. Like you, I found that the transition to TH8 was very difficult. I had nearly maxxed out TH7, but I still found myself with TH7 troops, TH7 defenses, and the TH8 loot penalty, and I was getting rolled by TH9s because suddenly 95% of my loot was available to them (as opposed to 50%). Frankly, it sucked, but it got better after about a month, once I had some level 5 troops and had my new toys upgraded somewhat. And then the new loot system hit!

Unfortunately, that's another issue you're having to contend with: the general lack of loot. I upped my TH about a month before the last update, so although the first month was hard for me, loot was generally available overall. I can't imagine how much harder it must be for you given that the overall CoC economy at the higher THs is in turmoil and that TH8 seems to have taken the brunt of the impact.

At the risk of repeating the advice of others:
    • Put your TH outside your walls and easy to get to, then put some traps between the TH and the rest of your base (where they'll only get triggered if the attacker tries to keep going after taking the TH). Ninety percent of the time you'll get a cheap shield out of it.
    • Get the extra storages, and design your base so that each storage is in a separate compartment with 1–2 defenses. Make the enemy really work to get what you have.
    • Buy all the new toys that come with TH8, and upgrade them. They're cheap and fast at first and provide at least a little protection/distraction between the enemy and your storages.
    • Keep one builder free or on quickie jobs, so that you can pour any extra gold into walls before you log off. They can't steal walls.
    • Farm for a while with fast, cheap troops (I use BAG with a few giants and wallbreakers).
    • And finally, keep your DE stores low. It's in short supply higher up, so even if you have a decent amount of gold, a lot of attackers will pass you buy if you don't have any DE.

Good luck! You can get past this hump!

    Thanks

Thanks for all the tips and words of encouragement guys. I will move my TH out and get a screen shot up. The one thing that i didn’t conceder at all was building up the new storage's. I didn’t need them so I just built them to put down and left them. Look for a screen shot soon.

    Thanks all.

Ok, here it is. What do you think?

I have moved my TH to the very bottom and my CC where it used to be.
