I do notice that @ 3000-ish, the infernos start going on (at least one) single mode
& there starts to be a mixture of ground bows.
Which makes sense considering that one of the biggest threats up there is the GoWiWi.
/shakes fists @ people who can actually raid w/ that army well

Loot is not too bad. You start seeing more storages near the periphery.
And the best part is, even if you escape with only 100K,
as long as you win, you get a 100K bonus both ways.

I'd say that the lower leagues, or even M3 gives a better loot "return",
in the true essence of farming,
but my TH10 build times are waaaaay too long
& I found myself needing to give my builders a (green) helping hand every now & then.

Depends on the gameplay that you're interested in.

And besides, there comes a time in even the most hardcore farmer's heart
where he / she finds that collector raids are beginning to eat at his / her soul.

EDIT: Checking my battle log, my loot averages 100-300K.
Caveat is, I do sometimes spend 15-20 mins looking for a base, because I want to win.
(If winning does not matter, I am sure you'd find one faster.)
Also, because my lab is tied up in long upgrades
and I don't have a problem w/ elix, I blow spells very liberally.
(And oui, my factory never sleeps when I raid.)

La petite PommeFrites - oui, farming @ M1 n'est pas impossible...
Thanks a lot, appreciate this and makes sense.

I'm currently surviving at M3 with one 1 x-bow, other 2 bows and both ITs are being hammered, so I'm reluctant to head north just yet for fear of being hammered myself. I may try to get up there about the week before Forum Elite starts to do some last minute farming.

I'm actually enjoying the long build times at the moment. I've given up on walls so only casually raiding now and then to keep builders going. I'll use the green shiny things though if storages full and I want to play more.

Every now and then, normally when I've won a few in a row and confidence is high, I'll throw in the odd GoWiWi - it's a great way to come back to earth with a monumental failure. I need to watch more replays I think.

For now I can't stomach the collector raids either so just hanging out barely wearing the black suit.

Final questions, are you boosting any barracks? I'm guessing spell factory is a must. I quite like doing 2 normal, 1 de and the spell to keep raids frequent.

Lol Stitch, getting hammered is a must up here.

If and when I do raid, all my barracks + spell factory are boosted.

I'm yet to try the GoWiWi personally,
even though I have been lucky enough to see quite a few good replays.
My goleys & wallies are still in diapers ATM.

For attacker perspective, it is much better to have exposed tesla around townhall, so that it can be swarmed by group of barbarians/giants/whatever melee troops, instead of having them banging against the wall to attack the same tesla after the wall.
It is also better to be able to drop a barbarian or two to test the presence of traps, instead of dropping them outside and swarm in through a hole and stepping on the same trap on the same time.
If the intention is to take your base, all the defenses has been counted, including your tesla and trap, so the placements doesn't really matter.

On the other side, when I attack completely unprotected TH it makes it easier for me to go after the rest of the base because I know I don't have to worry about losing any cups if the raid goes badly, i.e. <49%. I think you can be right about how protecting an exposed TH can take away from the rest of the base defense, but my experience has been that done properly you can protect your base and lure people into attacking your protected TH most of the time.

I think Teslas near exposed town halls are a bad idea, if I'm going to snipe an exposed town hall and I see Teslas or traps it just makes me what to three star them even more.

This is the worst argument for Tesla'ing a th. Ask yourself if you want a shield or not. Someone who is just how sniping and fails to take it is just leaving you vulnerable to a stronger army.
Interesting concept yours, however, I have seen few employ this strategy of giving up after trying. Everybody that comes across my trapped th does everything they can to complete the TH snipe. The few that don't give me plenty of cups as usually they're under-developed TH snipers a league above me.

And again here, I have yet to be 3 star OR 2 starred by ANYONE who's tried to snipe my trapped TH. Been attempted numerous times, but their army is so decimated they can never finish the job.

I used to never farm with my TH outside my base. But with the new loot system (which I like btw) I NEED to put the TH outside. Otherwise, I'll get taken for all I'm worth (easily 600k total).
I personally don't mind low level players who snipe their way to crystal as long as they are prepared for me to 3 star them for 54 trophies

That is true if you are either:
    - up against a noob / poorly defended player; or
    - a very skilled attacker going after anyone but a noob / poorly defended player

Generally, most noob attackers (Miss Spud included)
    would have exhausted most of their troops trying to rush against the TH;
ergo, leaving little / no troops behind for a 2* let alone 3* of the base.

Because the way he phrased it certainly seems so.
Sandalhat I actually agree with you on this one. I think you and I are similar in that it isn't necessarily about WHO is right, but WHAT is the right answer, and strong logic is required to back up an emotional opinion.
