Roadside Shop Raiding?

Buying and selling is an essential part of HD. Items in the RSS are fair game. You are free to buy as many items you can afford or have room for.

That being said, I personally don't distinguish between shops from farms I follow and shops found in i.e. the paper. However I do try to help farmers who need help, if I buy something from them.

I think, it is a bit sad to even have this discussion, because the truth is that even after playing this game for many years (seven or eight years), I still get thrilled, when I manage to buy a goodie. I also put goodies up for sale every day, so others can come and find them. You give some, you take some.

As mentioned in the start buying and selling really is an essential part of this game.

My opinion on your friend: , this person did you a favor by removing you from their friends list. No one needs to have a friend who punishes them for some unwritten rule. So let that go. I have unfriended people like your friend when I see them post in groups about their "rss rules" because frankly I simply don't have the brain capacity to remember who has silly rules about which boxes I am allowed to buy from or how many boxes I can buy or which days are only for neighbors to buy. PLEASE.
My opinion on raiding: It isn't a thing. If it is in the shop it is for sale. YES I have lost items I put in for my neighbors or my baby farms. But that is part of the game. I always shop the farms on my friends list first and I try to only buy what I need. ESPECIALLY when we are talking EM's. Everything else I feel is fair game. Nothing that is put in my shop is sacred. If I lose it I move on. So if you grab the nails I put in for my baby farm, out of the last box in my shop that are marked down to 1 coin... it's my gift to you.

Just share from my experience.
I have a person in my friend list who selling tools and food daily on her shop ... But she remove me one day . Than I read here somewhere at forum ....that when people selling food and tools at their shop they don't like if someone buy it all.... So from that time I limited myself only buy max 3 boxes not more.
I never buy food or tools at last box of the shop ...cause usually they use last box for trade or transfer to their baby farm . That's my experience 

except when they are selling crops in the DD ..... that’s the only place I find expansion material!

I keep seeing threads from users who are resentful if someone buys store items and doesn't help them. Or if they buy items that aren't advertised. Or if strangers buy items they wanted their friends or other farm to buy. Or if they buy items from the wrong box in their store. One user wants to be able to lock items so no one can buy them UNLESS they provide help (seriously?).

Hay Day is a game! If you put things in your store, people can buy them. Buyers give you money -- they aren't taking them for free or taking advantage of you. Imagine going to the local grocery store and filling your cart only to learn the store manager is ticked that you took too much stock or bought all of his oranges. It's ridiculous!

If you put items in your store, anyone can buy them. Period. If you don't want that, don't put items in your store. Simple. HayDay doesn't provide a means for people to trade between their farms or have unlimited requests for a reason -- once you use up your allowed requests, you have to risk the open market and allow for others to swoop in. That open market is absolutely central to the game. Take the risk away and let people dictate who can buy what, and you no longer have a game. Hay Day is a simple game, but there is strategy required to do well. We all have the same limitations and have to figure out how to work around them. If you try to dictate what people can buy or what store box they can buy out of, you are trying to cheat and you are making other players feel icky for playing within the rules. Giving players hell for raiding is bullying and controlling.

And please don't assume that people who don't help are jerks. If someone doesn't help, maybe they are low on stock or they just sold a lot of stuff or they need the same item for their boat. Anyway, helping is not a requirement of the game and you can't force it on others. The game provides helping tasks in derbys and events to ensure that helping is encouraged. I think overall the game design does a great job of making it challenging but fun.

I also play with a close friend and sometimes sell items for him to buy. Often, another player will swoop in and take the items before my friend can. We don't get annoyed about it because it's a game and we're not 5 years old. Often I laugh at how quick other buyers can be. That's what makes it fun and challenging! Anyone who can't handle playing a game where everyone can access their items can choose to play different games over a closed network with only their friends - i.e., a LAN setup. But you can't try to control the actions of the millions of people on the internet!

Here is a heads up: if I see farm names like "don't buy, just help" or "no raiding" I'm inclined to buy the item because their tactics show lousy sportsmanship. I will NEVER help a farm with a name like that. I help to be nice and reciprocate, not to respond to the demands of a stranger, who is probably an adult, and doesn't want to play such as simple fun game by the rules provided.

If you want to work around the rules, I suggest you become a whale and spend real bucks to get what you want.

Bottom line: any player that gives you hell for buying their items, raiding their shop, or otherwise simply interacting with the game within the game rules, is a bully and they are trying to make you help them circumvent the rules -- and I think they should be reported and blocked from your account. You won't miss them. These people have no idea how to have fun. Times are tough these days: no one needs to be harangued for how they play a simple online game that's supposed to be an escape. When unexpected things happen, roll with it. The game designers designed it that way, so people can't just have little enclaves and trade between their own group.

If you aren't playing Hay Day to have fun, what is the point?

Happy to see most of the others in this thread seem to have a similar opinion on just playing and enjoying the challenges of doing well with an open market.

We are derby oriented hood and I like to keep bunch of trees always ready for revive on Tuesdays in case someone get help task and I'm not online right then. I understand that I cannot really demand my followers or friends to not revive them so I need to keep my friend and follower list empty. Which is kind of sad I think but there just isn't any other way doing it.

I don't usually pay attention to farm names (and not all even speak English) and requiring some kind of etiquette to others than your real life friends or hoodmates is not realistic.
