Demotion on an unfull race.

If you are in a race of five and you place fourth, will you be demoted to the league below?
if so, how far up the line does that exactly work? Is it the bottom three regardless of if you r in a trophy position or not. I understand that in a full race of 15, the bottom 3 are demoted, but if your race isn’t full, it hardly seems fair to demote racers bc they haven’t been paired in a full field. Does anyone have experience with this?

Wow sounds like a nightmare to me! No, we haven't seen or participated in any race like that. I would like to know too, very good question!

Yes, you will be demoted if you are in the bottom three and if you are like my neighborhood, Supercell will do nothing. It happened to us about a month ago.

ETA: We placed 4th so I am unsure about trophy positions.

Here is my update. In our five horse race. The three horses that received trophies all stayed in championship league and moved up on the leaderboard. The bottom 2 were demoted to expert league. So I’m drawing the conclusion that if you place in top three, you will not be demoted. My heart goes out to those teams bc it hardly seems fair. Fix it supercell!
