Section... 2 / 15 (Introduction / Proposal of idea!)

Okay, before I start this crazily long idea, I have two things to say before we get started:

# 1 - Before I actually thought of this idea, I read over the sticky and I saw NOTHING about Private messaging being ruled out. I read over the sticky and there was nothing. Keep in mind that the ruled out ideas list doesn't come until half way down the sticky, the top half is frequently asked suggestions that Supercell is looking over to either implement or rule out. So my guess right now is that it isn't ruled out (Correct me if I'm wrong though)

# 2 - Like you guys might know already, this thread is EXTREMELY LONG, so you will have to bear with me here, I STRONGLY recommend that you read all of it so you won't be lost in the idea. You can still ask questions from some of the parts you don't get though. For the people that hate reading or don't have the time, then thats okay, just skim over the pictures to at least give you an explanation of what my idea is. If you do have the time, please take the time to read it, you can bring a cup of tea or a lvl 6 cup of coffee which daddy has

Okay, so lets begin! Something that I feel the game needs IMO is private messaging. I know what you might be thinking, that it can be abused and it will never work. This is why I have came up with these components to maybe at least lower the amount of abuse sigificantly.
The Private messaging in clan chat and in global have some big differences, so you will notice that further in the idea

NOTE - In this idea, i have ONLY included PM'ing in Global and clan chat, definitely not for attacking or randomly. You might already know why that's a bad idea, you don't wanna be in the top 200 and wake up with 1000 messages of random players spamming
"please join us" or "Can I join pretty please?" or "OMG YOUR BASE IS AWESOME"

This is why I have ruled out this section and took it away, it cannot be made better. The same thing goes with attacking messages, you don't want to receive messages like this.
"Fail your TH is outside you noob" or "Your defenses are ****" or "Holy ♥♥♥♥ dude your base sucks"

So I also ruled out the attacking section being in my idea, just like i said. it can't be kept clean.

Okay, now that we have covered all of this, let's start with the actually idea!!

Section... 3 / 15 (New layout for the new PM in Clan chat!)

Private messaging, if Implemented, I'd expect it to look something like this. As you can see, now we have three sections! Global chat, clan chat, and lastly Private messaging.
NOTE - Take in mind that I'm starting with clan chat first, I'll begin with global in section 7 / 15 of this idea!

Now, let's pretend that my clan chat right now is extremely chaotic (Like mine is sometimes). If you want to get out of all this mess, then this is where private messaging comes in handy, I'll explain it starting right now in the next section, make sure to read it all for a better understanding!

Section... 4 / 15 (How to start PM'ing in clan chat[Tour])

As you can see, when you want to private message someone, what you have to do is click on the person's name and as you can see in the picture, a new button has been added. When you pull up this is click on the button, it will automatically redirect you to the private message tap in the top right corner. This is where you can start private messaging.

Important (Let me know if I should reconsider this)
Clan ranks will actually depend on if you can private message or not, here are my thoughts
-Since members are not fully trusted and they can cause trouble, I have created this to prevent possible trouble, here it is
Leaders - will be able to PM anyone in the clan whether it's elders or members
Elders - will also be able to PM anyone in the clan, including leader and members
BUT members - will not have the privilege to PM anyone UNTIL their "New"( The one below their IGN) Message goes away, which is about a week. This can prevent members from joining and spamming the heck out of elders and leaders. Like I said, new members cant be fully trusted, so they wont be able to PM anyone until their "New sign" goes away. After it goes away, now they will have the privilege to PM anyone like elders and the leader, BUT, heres the catch, even if the members are "New" They will have the right to REPLY to PM's from elders or leaders

So basically, new members wont be able to start PM's, but they can reply to the PM's that they get from elders or leaders. But again, after their "New" sign gies away, now they can also start PM's

Note!- As you read further into the idea, you will see that you will be able to multitask and PM several people at a time. If you want to see this, go into section 6 of the idea to see it, but right now let's get back on topic and lets just look at one user right now

Right now, lets just say that I am chatting with one person ONLY. As you can see, there is many things going on right now! Let's first begin with the chatting tab on the top and explain to you more about this so you won't be confused! I will break this up in components so you can understand this better (Hopefully lol) Take a look at the picture below this text.

Section... 5 / 15 (A deeper look into the PM system)

Okay, now lets break this picture apart from the others right now, we'll be focusing on the others later. The chat tab here as you can see is different then normal clan / global chatting. In the picture above, you'll see that in private messaging, the(@) is added into the chat, as well as the person you're sending it too to make (@Doodle. This will indicate that the message I'm sending is going to him (Sorta like a email). Now, lets say that I send him this message ("Hi Doodle")
-Once the message has been sent, The person I sent it to (Doodle) will receive a notification in his chat tab

-Now we have to wait for her to reply, let's now say she does and I get the message, this is what it will look like

(okay then doodle I see how it is lol)
By the way, Ignore the (@) on the right, I'll get to that in section 6 / 16 when we start talking about multitasking / PM'ing multiple people at one time. Back on topic, once she replies and I know she's online, I can't start having a conversation with her about anything outside of the chaotic clan chat. Okay, now that we have covered private messaging at it's simplest, lets get to the more complex PM, which is Multitasking

Section... 6 / 15 (Multitasking / PM'ing many people at one time)

Okay, so this is kind of tough to explain, but I'll try and make it the simplest to understand as I can, take a look at the picture below you.


I'm pretty sure you saw this in a earlier section, so it might have confused you, sorry for that.
Basically, lets say that you want to multitask and PM with many players at the same time while still keeping it private
As you saw earlier, The (@) in the player's name will be the indicator to where it is going too.

I am hope I am making sense, but now let's actually say that you are talking with one person right now, with the (@) going to him or her right now. Now let's say, that right out of the bat, someone decides to PM you.

You might be thinking, "How am I gonna PM more than one person at the same time?" This is where the blue icon with the (@) will help you. If you get private messaged by someone else, you will click that icon of the person that messages you, let's say that Chief Taylor (One of my clan mates) decides to PM while I am currently chatting with Doodle. What I will do is click Chief"s (@) blue icon which is on the left and now as you noticed by the picture below me, the (@) has changed to him.

Now that the icon (@), has changed to him, now I can talk to him privately as well, then he can message me back when he gets my message, BUT, if I want to talk to Doodle again, I will simply click Doodle's blue icon and now I can PM him again
-Keep in mind that are of this multitasking is private, this means Doodle won't see Chief Taylor's messages and he won't see Doodle's messages, its just that you can multitask and PM multiple users at one time without having to open many pages to talk with
-I really do hope that I made sense here, if I don't, you are more than free to ask a question by replying to the thread, I'll be more than happy to answer it for you

Section... 7 / 15 (Private messaging in Global chat layout / introduction)


Oh man, global has to be one of the toughest parts of this idea. We all know that we can't trust everyone on global, all the kids, the immature idiots, the daters, and the random spammers probably made this idea the most difficult to think out so it won't be abused. After lot's of thought into this section, I have come up with some things in that are different then the clan chat PM, but these things will help so this PM won't be abused

I know that you think it's a bad idea to PM in global, since you'll probably get many messages saying to join their clan. This is why I came up with the mute / block and also the blocking list which you'll see in the above picture. Right now, I AM NOT going to talk about this, if you want to read this now, go to section 9 and 10 of this idea so you'll know what I mean by "Block", but right now, lets get back on topic. Global chat PM vs Clan chat PM is pretty much the same, except the block list and the mute / block button.

Okay, so now I'll give you are small tutorial on how you will also use PM'ing in global chat, which you might know already from the first post, so if you don't what to read section 8, skip on to section 9 where I will explain the two new features of PM'ing in global.

Section 8 (How to use PM in Global chat)


I don't really need to explain how the system of private message works here because the PM works exactly the same as the clan chat . You can either PM solo or you can Multitask like i said in the Clan chat post.

But, there is one new conflict rising up from global, and that is abusing it
Like I mentioned, there is many kids and immature idiots lurking around in global, this makes very hard to make a system that is 100% positive to avoid all the because from the people in global

Section... 9 /15 (Abusing in the global chat)

Many people hate global chat because of this, this is why it was hard to come up with this section of the idea. If the same idea for the clan chat PM was copied and pasted into global, it will probably not work out well, I had to tweak some of the parts of the PM and see if it will work. After the final thought of this, I have included two new things that weren't in the clan chat area, Any feedback or thoughts are appreciated on what you think about these two features, again, it is extremely difficult to come up with something that is 100% sure not to be abused. Take a look at the two things below you.

#1 - The mute / block button in PM



- This was kind of a hard decision to make, but it's one of the things that can help get rid of the flamers and the annoying people that lure in global chat, this WILL NOT be in clan chat, this button will only be located in the PM tab of Global (Global PM and Clan PM have differences). What this does is block flamers/spammers and people that might annoy you when they PM you.

You do not want to receive messages like this from other people in global (These are examples only)

• "njcncnwwicwdfufoewdjweofj" ---> (Spam) or

• "join us, join here, join for elder" ----> (Annoying messages), or finally

• "**** u you piece of ****, you suck at life" ---> (Swearing and flaming) (Sorry for bad language)

-The examples above this are why you should use the block button and when you should use it.

When you get blocked, you will not be able to post on their PM. Now you might be saying, this can be abused. Well you have a very good thought, right now, it might be abused because a random kid can just block every person on global he sees, just to be a jerk. This is why I have included a 15 minute cooldown between blocking people. The cooldown might get annoying for some people, but it should be there to prevent people from just blocking anyone the want.

Now, another question you might be asking, "Are these blocks permanent?"
Well I'll answer it right now for you and say "No, of course not" This is where we start to get into the second part of the feature, take a look at number 2

#2 - The block list in Global PM

- When you block a player, he or she will be automatically put in your block list next to the chat tab. This will mean that all the players in this list will not be able to PM you. Again, like I mentioned in #1, there's a 15 minute cooldown between blocking people, this will hopefully at least help people from abusing it (Let me know what you think about the cooldown, should it be more or less?).

Now another question you might be think is, how will you unblock someone if it isn't permanent, this I will explain in the next section coming up right now.

Section... 10 / 15 (How to Block someone in global PM (Tutorial))

Okay, since I already explained the whole entire system on section 9, this section and the next one I will use to explain all the steps to properly blocking someone that is bothering / bullying / annoying you. Take a look at the pictures below you.


Okay, so lets pretend that you got PM'ed randomly by someone in global and he or she left some hurtful comments that bother / annoy you, here is what you do

Step #1 - When you see that someone is trying to bullying you (Example), you're gonna want to tap on his username in the PM and choose the Mute / block button. When you do finally choose it, a message will pop up, take a look at the picture below you


Step #2 - You will get a confirmation pop up (To avoid mistakes) saying if you really want to block this player, if you are positive, click "Confirm" and if you mis clicked, you can easily choose cancel and you will be taken back to where you were. When you finish blocking the player you will get this message saying that he or she was added to the block list successfully.



Now that you know how to block players, now we can move on to the next section which shows you how the block list looks, the section after that will give you a tutorial on how to unblock / remove players from your block list

Section... 11 / 15 (Entering the block list (Small tutorial))

If you click on the block list, it will take you to a page same tab, take a look at the picture below this for a better understanding.


As you can see, you have all the people you blocked on this list (From global) Remember I said that the blocking wasn't permanent, it isn't

In the next two sections, now I will explain how to unblock people individually!

Section 12 / 15 (How to remove individuals from the block list)

Do you now feel that you want to unblock someone again either because you changed your mind or that you think you gone to far and that he or she deserves to be unblocked, here, I'll give an easy tutorial on how to unblock individuals
Take a look a the picture below you


There are two components in the block list, unblocking individually and unblocking everyone, I'll get to the unblocking everyone in the next section

Step #1 - If you want to remove only, one person or so, simply click on the "Unblock" button on the person you want to unblock, then a confirmation will also appear, take a look at the picture below you.



Step #2 - If you are completely sure that you wanna unblock him, simply click "confirm", if you mis clicked, then you can easily go back by hitting "cancel'

No need to explain more, I think it's pretty simple lol,
Okay, next of all I will be showing you how to unblock everyone

Section... 13 / 15 (How to unblock everyone(Tutorial))

I'm not sure if everyone will choose to remove everybody he or she has from her unblock list, but it can be very possible someone wants to.
The steps are also very simple, but I'll still explain it here, take a look at the picture below you


Step #1 - If you do choose to unblock everyone, simply choose the "Unblock all" button next to the chat tab in the PM, and again, you will receive a confirmation message



Step #2 - Okay, if you are sure that you want to unblock everyone (Don't make a mistake!), then simply click "Confirm", and if you mis click, hit "Cancel"
Then now everyone will be removed from your blocked list and they can post in your PM again

Finally, in section 14, just out of luck, I will show you what happens if you try to PM someone that blocked you

Section... 14 / 15 (What happens if you get blocked)

This is pretty much simple, if you get blocked, you won't be able to PM the user that blocked you, and vice versa (If you block them)
This picture below is how it will look if you PM someone that blocked you


Pretty much sums this up, you won't be able to PM them, unless they decide to unblock you!

Section 15 / 15 (The ending + Q&A / suggestions from replies below)

. Will you still be able to talk to people who leave the clan?

Unfortunately, right now if they leave forever, then probably not, but you have a good thought here, I will sure think this over to see if I can edit something in there to include it.

for popular people only people in there"contacts" can pm them. is that added in there somewhere?

I might be working on that in the near future, but it's actually a good thought, I need to plan it though first

I need to say the when u multi task its really easy to forget who u are talking to and accidentally send the pm to the wrong person. Like how I recruit people in my clan chat when its suppose to be in global. Maybe u can add something like the forums where u can only pm once per minute to one person. The clan chat is for more fast paced chatting

Yeah I'll go ahead and say that it has happened to me before, and the 1 min cooldown is a good idea, but it can be annoying if you are trying to chat faster
Maybe lower it to 30 - 45 seconds and it will be better

A few comment/suggestions. Some control over who can PM you, admins only, clan, friends, and all. It might be a good tool for admins or support. Allow PMing people in your friend list. Rather than not allowing clan members to PM how about just as long as they have the new tag?

Good suggestions Zombieblender! I am actually working on the friend list section, I also got to photoshop the pictures as well so at least expect it to come this Wednesday.
I an also reconsidering the clan member privileges, it would actually be nicer like that, I never thought of that, but thanks!

Also what if there is a specific person you want to pm and is not online what then would we get notify when one is not online?
And I think if we have this now I bet everyone in the clan would pm you the most Mind.

Right now, what probably will happen is that if he or she doesnt respond to your PM, then you will be able to tell if the user is offline.
But I like where you're going with you point, I might include that but I'll have to edit some pictures first

Well, that was interesting. Not sure how I feel about members not being able to PM, but sounds pretty good overall. Maybe limiting the number of messages a member can send? (Not sure how it'll work when they repeatedly join and leave, though.)

I don't think global PMing should exist unless there is an option to receive no PM's from global. Otherwise, if one of the top players says anything in global chat, he will receive 500 PM's because everyone in that global chat can PM him.

So add an option to block by default in global.

I like it. Could be useful if the leader wants to talk to an elder about something. Or if the leader wants to talk with the leader of the feeder clan. Will you still be able to talk to people who leave the clan?
