Question Pets (to pet or not to pet?)

    Hi Folks,

Im curious as to what everyone thinks about the necessity of pets on their farms, and how they 'use' them?

    I ask of two reasons:

1st - that on my travels I notice a discrepancy between different farms for their particular level. Some have the max pets, some have the minimum.
I guess I fall into the latter as I only have less than a 1/4 of the allotted number.

2nd - how often do you "wake" your pets ie: daily, twice or more (if this is possible?), and how frequently do you yield any rewards - aside from XP that is?
I wake my dogs once a day (if I remember!), but only get a reward approx every 3rd ? time.

I wondered if there was a correlation between how often you wake them or not? Or how many you have for your level etc? (In respect to rewards)

I'm also undecided as to their real benefit (food expense v reward) before I decide to complete my menagerie.
Im not convinced mine are paying for themselves to be honest! LOL

Id be interested to hear your thoughts on this topic thanks

I have two cats, two dogs, one horse and the donkey.

I got a cat first then a dog. From the beginning, every time I woke my cat I got EMs. I still do. I haven't kept track of how often I get materials from the dogs, horse and donkey but I do get them often.

I am always waking them all as soon as I see them asleep, with the cats this means I get EMs a couple of times a day.

I have 13 pets now, I would guess I get at least 5 rewards every time. I assumed you got something after every 3rd or 4th pet. I wake them whenever I see them, the cycle is 6 hours except for the donkey. Their food doesn't make much difference to me, I always have lots of what they need.

I have 6 dogs, 6 cats, 6 horses and 2 donkeys. The donkeys seem to sleep every hour and yield something after 4?/5? wakings. The other pets yield 6 goodies (+ lots of xp) every time I waken them, usually 3 times a day. I was persuaded after reading other forum members' posts to go for all the pets and they definitely pay for themselves for me.

Yep...wake them every 6 hours(donkey every hour) get lots of goodies. More pets=more goodies.

Today alone I've gotten 2 bolts, an axe, a plank and a tape. Plus xp (I have 3 dogs, 3 cats, 3 horses and a donkey)
I'd say they are worth it

    you're up late, Spanielgirl!

I delayed getting my pets (6 cats, 5 dogs, 2 horses, 1 donkey) a long time cuz I didn't want their xp levelling me up too quickly. And the few I did have slept a lot. And i also needed time to collect vouchers. I think I've just reached a level where I can easily balance coins and xp and more xp is needed to get to next level, so now I love waking them! The pets are the best; every time I wake the set of each they give me goodies. I think each set gives a goodie every 6 times you wake them...? As Spanielgirl says, they really do pay for themselves. I came within a hair's breadth of buying my last dog or another horse when the fish event started! Soooo glad I held off.... Normally I use only red lures for fishing and save my vouchers for getting more pets.

I have 6 cats, 6 dogs, 8 horses and 2 donkeys. The first thing I do in the morning is wake my pets, I get at least 3 items waking the cats and dogs. I don't know how many waking the horses, but I wake them as soon as I am done with the cats and dogs. Seems to me 1 or 2 when I wake them. I get lots of bolts and nails, axes and saws waking the animals. Then I wake them any time I log on that day or night if they are sleeping. So basically as much as possible, I think I get a good amount of rewards. It's always the first thing I do.

Exception would be those donkeys, they are a pain, have to wake them way to often and I have yet to see anything fly up waking them. I'm about ready to just let them sleep for good lol. I don't mind the low xp on them, but they have to be fed way to often for me, I think they need to change that.

I have three cats and three horses. I'd get the fourth horse, the one I don't have, except that it makes me twitchy to think of three horses in one stable, and only one in the other. If I could assign two to a stable, I'd go for #4! And I don't like dogs.

I get one item from each group every morning, and maybe one other time, depending on how many times I get to wake them in a day. It seems very much worth it to me, especially since I only need carrots and milk for them.
