Few thousand because you would most likely be gemming all troops, all spells, and you would probably want heroes in the battle too. This is also depending on the starting point of the trophies.

without gems i went from gold three to masters in 3 days at th 8 too just need to play alot im sure if i was a good upgraded th 10 that played as much as i did they could hit champs in that time or less
