What is farming?

I've been seeing people using the term "farming". What is farming(I'm a bit new)? Please reply ASAP!

Attacking for resources like gold elixir and dark elixir, not caring about trophies or wining and losing.

With a base where you Town Hall is outside so you can have more room for the storages to protect your loot.

When you see the word farming written in the forum or in game chat it normally refers to only attacking for resources and not worrying about trophy hunting.

Although technically you can farm for a few different things in the game:
XP
Gold
Elixir
Dark Elixir
almost any of the achivements can be also farmed i.e. destroying Builders huts.

So farming means to repetitively do something in order to progress in the game.

Where you put your TH outside, so you can get a shield, therefore protecting your resources. Because of this, most farmers don't care about trophies.

Farming (Far-ming):Its when trying to get in a clan you say "im low cuz im farming" Its normally used by people around bronze-silver2 and there highest trophies are usually about 100 above their current count.

My definition of farming is; Getting resources in a fast and effective way.

Farming is repeating something in a period of time in order to increase a collective quantity of an item in game. Like I farm donations and m trying to get to 50k, others may farm for gold and try and get a billion.
