Can somebody please explain why upgrading takes longer not shorter, the further we get in town hall level? There must be some type of compromise for long term players, rather than having to wait 16-17 days for an upgrade? It makes more sense to me making younger town hall upgrades longer at lower town hall levels, rewarding those longer term members with shorter upgrade times. Thoughts?

Totally disagree with this, maybe if there are new defences added into the game then possibly the times could be a little shorter. But having low upgrade time the higher you are would completely ruin the game.

Nah. The shorter upgrade times and fast pace at the beginning creates the (reward-)addiction, then the slower pace upgrades give time to tune the skills (reinforcing the addiction). This game has maybe the best trade-off (seen its long-term player base).
