Clan War Leagues are disruptive to regular clan wars. I will elaborate. At the end, I offer a simple and elegant solution that fixes almost everything.
1. During the CWL signup period regular clan wars cannot be started. Why? There is no good reason for this.
2. During CWL week, regular clan wars start slower with a higher chance of mismatches due to a smaller pool of clans doing regular clan war searches. Why? This can be easily fixed!
3. We all know CWL was poorly conceived, and mismatches are guaranteed by design... especially for multi-level clans. This was predictable from the moment CWL was announced. A well-organized clan with good teamwork will consistently face much stronger and less organized clans. We’re typically facing clans with an average 2 town hall level advantage. Still, we don’t get demoted because we’re organized enough to get 5th or 6th place. Bottom line: It’s no fun. Individual matchups are not competitive, so we’re sniping town halls and dipping to maximize our total war stars. This is A LOT less exciting than a competitive clan war. Imagine how demoralizing it is the moment battle day starts and our th7’s see the enemy’s lowest player is a th11! The choice between 15 or 30 players ultimately leads to more players being left out. There is generally more unwanted drama each CWL week. Why punish us with CWL? We don’t want it. I know we can always skip CWL, but see points 1 & 2 above. CWL has made everyone suffer unnecessarily. Supercell can end the suffering!
4. Many players reluctantly suffer through CWL only for the hammers & loot. It might be good if there was another way to win or earn hammers outside of CWL, but then interest in CWL could plummet. Many clans have started alternate clans just for the purpose of doing CWL, while they continue doing regular wars in their main clan. This is a nuisance as players must hop back and forth between clans and ask for elder/co restored each time.
5. Engineered accounts have no use for CWL and they are of no use in CWL.
6. During CWL, new players don’t have the opportunity to learn our war strategy for regular clan wars. Then they’re confused when regular wars resume. New players recruited during CWL must wait for regular wars to resume. Sometimes they aren’t even paying attention after a few days.
So here is my simple suggestion...
CWL should not interfere with regular wars in any way. Each player can have 2 separate opt buttons for regular clan wars & CWL. CWL and clan wars don’t need to change at all. Just decouple then. Clans should be able to do back-to-back regular clan wars nonstop without the incessant monthly distraction of CWL... without the days wasted waiting for CWL signup to end... without the major disruption to our regular war rhythm. There’s no good reason for CWL to interfere with regular clan wars. If you want, CWL could exist in a separate realm... sort of like builder base.
Why not let a single clan do CWL and continue doing regular wars at the same time? If an individual player can do regular wars in one clan while simultaneously doing CWL in another clan, then why can’t we do both simultaneously in the same clan? It seems much easier for everyone involved.
CWL is a major disruption to regular clan wars and to the clan in general. As a fairly well organized clan, we have ways to deal with all of these CWL-related problems. That doesn’t make them any less annoying.
The ability for a single clan to do both CWL and regular wars simultaneously would eliminate many of the nuisances of CWL. People might even start liking the game more again.
This is coming sincerely from someone who loves Clash of Clans and wants it to succeed as much as you do. Please fix this.
Thanks! 🦈
