CWL Defense weight compendium

Hi and welcome to the thread where we can hopefully share detailed base weight information of rosters competing in CWL. I intend to update this thread monthly with my own data, but it'd be great if people would add in theirs as well.

The motivation for doing this is partially born out of ongoing discussions of the usefulness of defense in CWL and partially questions surrounding what rosters are and aren't viable in a particular league. This is not information one can pull from the API.

Eventually, if we can get enough data, I intend to do some simple analysis to attempt to answer some of the questions.

The method is this: gather all participating clans final star score, their final rank and the individual bases' gold weight on the day you encounter them. For your own clan it'd be preferable to get gold weights from 4th war as an average. This way we have to assume that enemy gold weights are representative of their entire roster, not just the one we're seeing. If your clan is doing a new initial seeding it'd be great to know as well.

Anyway, it could be a fun and informative project to have going. I implore anyone regardless of league, roster size and competence level to add their information.


What if I don't want to share our data publicly?

There could be lots of reasons why a clan wants to stay anonymous. If you don't feel like sharing your data in public, send it to me in a private message instead and I'll add it to the offline data sheet. It will then not go into the public sheet below, but it will be used for analysis.

I could do this in Gold 3 but our main clan has already rolled another war.

Oh you should absolutely add your data if you're 30v roster size. It'll be very interesting to see if there's a difference in viable base weights between 15v and 30v.

And no, there shall be no laughing at amateurs (I am myself one)! In fact if contributors feel like bragging about punching above their weight I fully support it.

Oh and FYI it took me a mere 20 mins to do the readout for this league (It'll probably be twice that for 30v). So it's a tiny bit of time spent every month, but with the potential to benefit us all.

Awesome, thanks for the data. Those are some mighty lightweight rosters! What's a weight of 5000 btw? TH3 fill?

Yep. It was the lightest account we saw.

First up is the total weight distributions.

Second is a cumulative plot of distributions for clans that stay, promote and demote.

Third is standardized clan gold weight vs standardized clan stars and a proposed linear relationship.

I'd kind of be more interested if the set of data was all initial seeded clans imo.
