Intro:
Hi all, Im Val, just joined the forums.
I have been happily using the "mantis" at TH7 for the past several weeks.
As you might know the Mantis is a TH7 layout based on the Tempest TH8.
I found its main weakness to be the SE and SW sides where only 2 walls separate the core from outside. That's the area where I am always attacked.
Inspired by Orz's new Tempest version I attempted to create a th7 version of it.
Here I have attached 2 versions - one semi-slosed and the other fully open.
Semi-Closed
Open ("The EYE")
Discussion/features:
The main idea was to maximise the space protected by 3 walls. This also allowed for protection of more resources/mines.
A secondary objective was to create more compartments so that the main 5 resources are better spread.
-The enlarged outer rings allow traps to be centralised into the 2 areas where attack is most likely. My hope is that spring traps will beat at least the first few wb's and then giants will go for the long walk around and die.
-Mortars and wiz are strategically placed to cover max base area. Wiz are also in range of main resources.
-In farming version CC is super centralised. 99% of its range is within walls!
-Switch-out to clan wars version is easy - just slot th into the centre (CC will be slightly less centralised).
-Secret teslas - there are 8 compartments in total where the teslas could be placed. This means your opponent will never guess here they are located and will likely be offput by the ambiguity.
Learning from the Mantis
A big advantage of this type of base is its flexibility. You can close off / open areas to your liking.
You can move around defences in order to adjust the strength of different areas.
You can switch between trophy and farm version easily.
The current layout of defences is by no means the best one and I suspect the north areas need to be strengthened.
All in all,
it no longer looks like a mantis. It does however look like an eye thus its name.
Orz and others - could you provide some feedback please?
I'd be honoured if some TH7 would be willing to give it a go.
