The Tempest: A TH8 Base Design (2 Formations)

Yesterday I though why not try out this base for farming. (Currently using the Cyclone).
However, then I watched the Youtube Video in your opening post and was pretty shocked.
Only > 50% losses and ressources raided up to close to 300k each or 200k.
Really not trying to be offensive here, but that was pretty much a very bad advertising.
Even if three-starred, I can only lose 300k ressources as a TH8.
I decided not to try out the base as it peformed so disastrous in the Youtube Video in your opening post in those replays.
After all, what's the point.
Even my current base with many defenses upgrading performs much better.

Really not rying to be annoying or offensive here.
I just need some help understanding why the performance is considered to be good if that video shows the exact opposite. (for farming)

No, don't worry no offense taken!

Just a few things:

1) the video is now kind of old, i just never removed it for some reason... The base the video showed is an old version from when the base recently started.
I'd honestly wouldn't look at the videos.. Just stay up with the defence logs

2) You do realise they are maxed troops right? 1-2 stars isn't very surprising. In fact with armies like that, 50% is a success in my eyes.

3) it was just to show the funneling... But most of the videos on the first page are outdated

4) This base has defended against TH9/10 troops as best as can be. If you can show me better bases that defend against lvl6 giants then let me know.
As for now, my defence logs are showing 100% of what I get attacked by.

I've looked at some other threads and I've noticed that they put a single video showing an absolute fail attack with lvl 4/5 troops. If you prefer, I can do that too. But I really aren't trying to sell my base, as honestly usually sells itself. Or you could give it a try either way

Okay. I watched the video a couple times now.. And here's what I reckon.

1) You should use the newest version v3.1. I released it several days ago, and it has helped with the exposed storages, as well as making the funneling to 2 way (works regardless of attacking from top or bottom)

2) To be fair, you do have TH7 defences and such. Your wizard tower and air defence was upgrading, which are both key defences in any base.
As you only had 2 air defences, the giants equipped with 3 spells easily got to one of the air defences. This left only 1 more Air defence.

Watching the video, the dragons literally tore through the base as they pleased.

3) the funneling still worked, just wasn't as effective due to the healers healing and with the lower lvl point defences.

What do you reckon? Let me know

1) I'm not a huge fan of the new layout! I think it's a good idea re: storages, but there's no guarantee spring trap #1 will actually hit the giants, right? Especially on the right side (any video proof yet?). I really loved the old style funneling. But maybe if I get smashed a couple more times, I'll switch over.

2) Yeah, I just moved to TH8 last week so I'm getting all my new buildings up to snuff, thats why AD and WT. But I do agree losing an AD is huge - I should probably swap that with one of the top ones for better coverage. However, I thought people were saying this base could still survive with a couple things upgrading. Maybe I was being optimistic =P

3) Yes, rewatching the video, the funneling actually worked great and still springed a good amount of giants. It was those darned dragons and healers that did the base in.

I'll keep studying my defenses and post here with updates. I'll move to the newer base for the weekend too and see how the spring traps work. (BTW, I love that you're keeping old version links, very appreciated)

as long as my wizard towers and mortars are upgrading I will use the farming base.

Got cracked twice by th9's. But they only got 63 and 66 percent. They didn't go into the funneling. They went straight to the core which game them every storage exept the one that is in the second layer from the top. I don't blame this base. To not get 3 starred by a th9 is an honor

Wonderful base guide...very well put together mate. I see this can work even better in a th9 version for the fact you have more walls and defenses to separate the middle up a bit to make getting the storages quite hard. I recommend you work on a th9 version, and see how it does, but anyways, great job.

Tempest has just changed his base to an untested version, Search his clan Cavebears and find the name tempest to see the major changes he has made. Its practically and entirely new base design

Haha, that's good to hear. By all means, keep using the older version if you like that one!

The one you have now is the older version. Go on page 1 and scroll down a little to where it says 'farming formation'!

Grats on new base, I love ur bases and I will switch to shuriken as soon as it comes out. You are a really good base designer cause you take ever suggestion and answer every question. Will the tempest thread continue with you or will it end.

I know the base is probably really good, and you came up with the name by yourself, and it's all original, but I just wanted to point out that there is already a base on Clash of Clans Builder called the Shuriken....yeah...
