I couldn't agree more with your position versus Darian's/Supercell's. You don't have to go back far in this thread to establish our recent record: 7-0; 0-7; 7-0 & 1-6 backs that up. Whilst Crystal 1 <> Masters 3 isn't exactly the sharp end, it definitely is at the competitive end of the spectrum. I don't see how going 7-0, sometimes comfortably, to taking a mauling is good for the game.

It would be great, IMO, if they took the opportunity to address sandbagging at the same time. Opening up higher tiers would almost certainly be a boost for most clans short-term. That could be the ideal opportunity to look at bonus farming or serial (heavyweight) no-shows to make the whole shebang genuinely competitive, or at least more genuinely competitive at some levels. Better to do it when the positives outweigh the negatives, as opposed to piecemeal when it would negatively impact some with no mitigating upside.

It's fun to care about something that doesn't actually mean all that much. After a year of trying to break into C3 it is tempting to try to recruit a couple ringers to join us just to take first rather than our usual 2nd-4th, but that wouldn't mean as much as if we did it with our usual crew so we're just going to try again next month. It wouldn't surprise me if Titans league is added before we make it and then we would move up for sure.

Agreed, although sometimes I think I care too much ... I have the muttered mantra every now and again “It’s only a game Bel, it’s only game” For my next challenge, I’m having a wee foray into the competitive side of Clash to see how I can do on that front too and, oh my life, the learning curve My Queen has never been worked so hard in her life, poor mare, she’s exhausted

Roll on next month ... and Titans sounds interesting ... although will make those on the cusp of Champions in the next few months a bit pig sick will it not? An extra layer to wade through

Just a suggestion that if SC do want to do anything about it, league expansion would be the ideal time to do it. If you'll forgive me my friend, your willingness to accept gifted wins wasn't my primary consideration when I went off on this particular what if...

I personally feel that bonus medals could be abolished & redistributed into the general rewards for example. That way remove one of the incentives for lurking in a lower league; the bonuses being worth more to a clan collectively than the paltry extra per account.

I don't know if we can actually do much about non-participation. The big stick, penalise no-shows approach might have more downsides than upsides. I don't know if there's a carrot juicy enough to incentivise total participation - you'll continue to get your gifted wins if that's the case.

Supercell might not think changes are needed. All I'm saying is, that if they do want to do anything that won't be universally popular, doing it at the same time as something, that will benefit almost every clan, would be the best time to do so.

Well, I did go off on one those type of as it comes to you "what it's", a while back. It was more of a question really & the question was: would adopting the LL scoring system make a positive difference to participation in CWL?

Rather than lay if all out right now, I'll let you & anyone else reading have a think about it. Come up with your own pros, if any, and cons. Would it incentivise participation, or would it make matters worse?

If I do expand on this, I'll do it over in I&FR.

I agree it isn't good for the game. It would be better, in my opinion, if there wasn't such a difference between leagues so clans would have a better chance upon promotion to compete the next league up. I think that would help a bit with the sandbagging too. There are a lot of clans that lose on purpose to take 2nd place because they don't want to go up and get destroyed the next league up. My own clan has been struggling for a year to try to get into Champs3, so it doesn't really apply to us, but I know it is out there.

We are in Master 2 30 vs 30 rotating weak bases into our roster so who knows where we will finish. Our clan’s philosophy on CWL switched last month, we no longer solely use the strongest bases, we rotate weak bases in now and don’t care what league we are in. To be honest, I could see the writing on the wall and Master 1 30 vs 30 was just getting too tough, it was no longer fun seeing maxed bases at #30.

On day 1 in Crystal 2.. Breakdowns for all 8 clans is comparable, but who knows what will face us across the page.
We are looking for 100% activity this time, so our usual #1 is benched this time, as still MIA.
Will also be replacing any no show, so see how we finish.

Already had 3 attacks struggling to grasp what a 2 star plan is.. Opposite end to hall entry looking for the 3.. For a 1 star finish.
Ah well, at least the opposition has seen fit to copy our plan lol.

Last minute match, after a long search, for the second month in a row.

30v in Masters 3 with a very weak lineup. War #7 looks winnable & war #1 a possibility; beyond that, it's looking like a long, frustrating week.

7hrs until the start of our 1st day. Most of the clans we've matched with have decent war logs (if their logs are public). We do have a decent war log too but we are running all TH13s with only 5 max bases. We usually have around 34-36 stars per day so if they can triple at least 5 of our bases, we are doomed.

We only won 3 wars out of 7 last CWL and still placed 2nd because of our high stars. We still hope that we maintain that performance because it will be sad to get demoted in the last CWL of 2020.
