So how’s this CWL going?

Scared to look!

1½ hours to go in war #5 (got matched after end of sign-up) & might win to go 2-3. Up against the runaway leaders tomorrow & war #7 is against the clan in 3rd, so if we don't win this one we're toast. Even if we do win, it might not be enough. We've been outgunned, sometimes heavily, every day bar today (they're good & tactically sharp though) so haven't been racking up the stars. We're in yo-yo territory 7-0; 0-7 & 7-0 for the last 3 campaigns. Trying out 30v30 for the first time as we felt we had a better chance of surviving that way. Our last attempt at Masters 3 was awful; our 10/5 lineup got torn to shreds.

Edit: well we managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in a perfectly winnable war; lost 62-64, but were well ahead on percentage. Two missed attacks though, unforgivable in a tight, must win match. Disappointing too, turnout had been good 'til then. Just don't see survival happening now.

Heartbreaker for us. After over a year in Masters1 trying to get into Champs, we tied the first place team in stars, but they had more % so we needed just one more star (or more %) to finally make it to Champs. Our 3 star rate was 21% (boosted by 50% in one war against the last place team which included th12s) and 1 star rate was 4%. Our enemies had a 3 star rate against us of 14% and a 1 star rate of 17%. For those not familiar with Masters1, the teams are usually all th13s, but not close to all max. The bottom half of each team is usually not max and the bottom 1/4 is usually pretty rushed. Our own 3 star rate of 21% was boosted up in that one war by facing 2 or 3 th12s and a couple very low th13s that made for easy 3s.

Well, in spite of winning 4 losing 3, with only finished 6th this time around.

Some rather odd positions/results altogether really.

3rd 4-3
4th 3-4
5th 3-4
6th 4-3
7th 2-5
8th 0-7

The clan who finished 3rd lost to the first two, but also to the 5th clan.
The clan who finished 4th beat the clan who came 2nd, but lost to us (6th)
The clan who finished 5th lost their first 4 (including against us), then won their last 3, including beating the clan who came 3rd.

Not suggesting anything dodgy, just there was no consistency across the week, apart from the top and bottom clans.

We did end up 3rd. Oddity. Our destruction percentage was 18100 vs 17000 for second place clan. One star itus killed us in the war against number 2. Happy with the results anyway.

Well, we ended 4th with a 4/3..
Last 2 wars were lost due to folk having better things to do than play a silly game.. Never mind the ones checking the scoreboard every half hour till the clock ticked away for half a day.
All in all a decent week that could have had us challenging for a crystal 1 slot next time.

But a wake up call for next season..
If you have the size, you get a start on day 1, but even if we end up with 10s by the end of the week, nobody is gonna have the others wondering if they will show for 2 and 3 days running.
Is still only cwl.. Is still mainly about getting your 8.. Is still a no pressure week of farming for anyone big enough to get the shout..
But it is no longer a week of only showing up if nothing better is on the TV.

Now.. Where do we find a shepherd for looking after a flock of cats?

We see this a lot in Champs 2. In fact this CWL was a perfect example. On our first 3 days we lost 2 and won one easily (34-31: not a huge margin, but an easy win at this level). We then won the last 4, one on a tiebreaker, to end 3rd.

But those first 3 wars:
... the 2 clans who beat us finished 7th and 8th and were relegated.
... the clan we thumped were clear winners of the group finishing something like 15* ahead of 2nd place (and 17-ish ahead of us)



Incidentally the clan who came 6th, only survived due to winning their last day on a tie-breaker. Without the 10* bonus they'd have been 1* short and relegated. What was interesting though was that they'd posted scores of 34,34,33,33 earlier in the week - losing all of them. It's getting quite visibly tougher in Ch2 where 34 against 15 max TH13s is often a losing score!

Lol ... why do we get in such a pickle over this game?

I committed a heinous crime ... forgot which account I was in ... clicked attack ... tried to take down a TH13 for 2* with a TH11 with 2 golems and 6 witches Army hadn’t finished cooking Had checked the army in the right account, my TH12, got distracted by a question, switched to the other to answer it ... forgot to switch back and went straight into attack mode. Died a horrible death, of course!! Was so upset that I completely fluffed my TH12 attack and my TH13 attack afterwards. Put myself on the naughty step and rued the day, as we fought for our lives in the last match to hang on to third place

All I can say is thank goodness it’s my own clan ... I’d have been for the high jump elsewhere I think I don’t think I’m going to live it down with my clan mates for a wee while yet though ... still at least they’re laughing at me, not sticking pins in a voodoo doll!
