    Sandbox mode.
Ability to test your base layout ingame. The 'sandbox' button is right above 'village edit mode' button, and the icon is a sand castle.

Be Aware: You have a great advantage from being able to test your base with having the risk of losing trophies or resources.

If you weren't able to test your base layout in sandbox mode, the only way you'd find out what weaknesses it has would be if someone destroyed you...

Sandbox mode is a strategic convenience in that it allows you to run your base through a 'proof of concept' and have the risk factor reduced to zero.

I think that the gold is well worth it compared to the resources you are liable to lose from testing it the other way...

The alternative to sandbox is losing considerable amounts of resources and trophies when your base is destroyed. Keep in mind that the amount of gold you use to search in multiplayer battles is much less than the amount of gold an attacker would take from you were you being attacked for real.

For the purposes of this thread, let's assume that the multiplayer search cost is 500 gold.

    THE CATCH:

Sandbox mode costs the same as a multiplayer attack search fee for every 20 troops you use to attack. If you are testing your base using 100 troops, it will cost you 5 times the amount of gold it would cost to attack in multiplayer.. (Note: When I say troops I mean troop capacity. A dragon does not count as '1 troop' in this situation- it counts as 20)

    HOW IT WILL WORK:

When you tap the sandbox button, a screen will come up asking 'What troops/spells will you use?' Like a barracks or spell factory, you can select the number of troops/spells, and delete them. It costs no elixir to take troops/spells into the sandbox. The maximum number of spells that you can have is 5. The maximum number of troops is 240.

If you have 1,000 gold, and you select 100 troops to take into the sandbox, you will get a pop- up screen saying 'not enough gold' and the option to 'buy the amount of gold needed with x amount of gems'. You can either buy the gold, or close the pop- up and enter sandbox with fewer troops.

You can take whatever type of troop you like into battle, and they can be whatever level you choose. You select the level of a troop by tapping on the 'info' icon, and selecting the level that you'd like to use.

    Awesome bits:

When you attack in sandbox mode, the amount of resources that an attacker can steal from you is displayed. The amount of resources stored in the collectors and the storages is accurate to how it would be were you actually attacking someone.

All loot in sandbox mode is simulated. You can attack using an army of goblins and steal all of the resources, without losing one piece of gold from your actual village.

You can determine how much loot is in the collectors or storages when setting up an attack. After selecting what troops you will use, you will be given the choice to 'change loot'. You can adjust the amount of loot available for elixir, dark elixir, and gold. You can also choose how full each collector is. When you are given the option to 'change loot', the loot bars will already be set to the amount of resources that you currently have. You have the option to 'save changes' or 'Attack now'. Using 'attack now' will use the current amount of resources that you have.

You can restart an attack in sandbox mode.

    CERTAIN RESTRICTIONS:

    1. You may not select a saved layout (If save layout ability is added) to use in sandbox mode.

    2. Sandbox mode has a ten minute cooldown.

    3. You can only 'restart' a battle in sandbox mode once: If you lay down a troop in the wrong place the first time, you can chose to 'restart' the battle, and your time and troops are reset. The second time you lay down a troop, there's no going back.

    4. If you drop a troop and then exit sandbox mode before the battle is finished, you still have to wait for the 10 mintute cooldown.

    5. These are my adjustments to a heavily suggested idea. I believe that what I have suggested will make sandbox mode a more viable and less- exploitable option.

    6. You must wait for 30 minutes after creating a new base to test that base in 'sandbox mode'. This time cannot be bypassed by spending gems.

    Let's explore a possible scenario:

Bob is our average clasher. He logs on five or six times a day, donates well, and is a great clan elder in Atom's Core.

Bob logs on one day to find that his base has been DECIMATED. Angrily, he views the attackers base- only to find that he is up against a REALLY good setup.

Unsure about whether or not he can defeat his daring assailant in a revenge, Bob enters village edit mode, armed with a screenshot of the base he intends to attack...

After almost an hour of painstaking work recreating the base, Bob craftily looks for the sandbox button, only to discover that it isn't there. Bob realizes that he has to save his village before being able to enter sandbox mode.

Desperately, Bob taps 'save village', hoping that he can rebuild his base later. To his horror, when he taps on the sandbox button, he discovers that he is unable to attack.

    "What!?" Says Bob in astonishment.

Reading from the text box that has appeared, Bob now learns that he must wait for 30 minutes before testing his new base in sandbox mode, and there is no way for him to skip the wait using gems. Poor Bob.

    Let's look at another scenario:

Bob has waited for 30 minutes after creating what he believes to be a hog- proof base. Eagerly, he enters sandbox mode to test this base, knowing gratefully that this test will give him a great strategic advantage by being able to test his base without the risk of losing trophies or resources.

Once Bob has payed for the troops he will use (he will use a total of 200 troops, and payed 5,000 gold) he enters sandbox mode. Accidentally dropping one troop while panning around the base, he restarts the battle and carefully lays his troops down.

After gathering all the information that he needs, Bob exits the battle early. Three minutes later, he goes back to test how much elixir he could get with a horde of goblins, only to find that he must wait seven more minutes before being able to enter the sandbox again.

Alright! Tell me what you think, post replies, criticism, and commentary. Please avoid being mean or rude. If you have something that you would like me to adjust, please tell me!

    Hope you all enjoy!

U put so much detail i did not want to read it but love the idea my bases always lose it would help me out a lot!

    Talking Great Idea

This is really a well thought out idea. I don't see any ways someone could abuse this. Supercell should add this!

I would like to see a base testing mode like this in the game but I would prefer it didnt costs gems to do so. I understand your reasoning for having it gem based but...

Maybe it could be made that you can only attack your own base using troops you have trained. That way it doesnt cost nothing to test your own base (would cost elixir) out and you would have to wait for the troops to cook between self attacks so the attacks wouldnt be infinite. Would also encourage people to keep progressing their troop levels etc. and attacking other people for elixir... So you earn the right to test your own base out...

    Hey unditaker!
If you look closely, You'll see that the cost of using sandbox is in gold! I changed it from gems to gold after another member pointed out that gems would make this unpopular among other players.

I also have specifically mentioned that troops, spells, and resources in sandbox mode are simulated, and nothing is actually deducted from your resources.

If you have any more questions, please post!

So whats stopping people from being attacked then visiting their village and then making a replica of their base and testing out in sandbox mode till theyve got the attack down pat,And then revenging and destroying their base??Thats a very unfair advantage

Well then I see no issues with this idea. People can still gem gold, but that is their poragative. As you said, it is an advantage to use it and has to have some sort of cost attached to it.

And having a way for non-gemmers to be able to use this feature is important, as non-gemmers can access every other feature in the game, it just takes them longer.

What I meant by with costing elixir was that it would cost whatever it normally would to train troops, but then when attacking your own base obviously you wouldnt be losing any resources.

Did you see the first scenario with Bob? This would make the situation you describe unlikely to occur frequently.

This seems totally okay to me; the whole idea of revenging is getting that sucker three starred Revenging doesn't occur often so this would influence more heavy attacks during low cup farming compared to the typical bam/bag raids.
Maxed out - base and boredom.
