Queen walk is fine. Can’t predict the KING

Whenever I try to use the king to funnel, he never takes out the buildings I predict. Usually he walks straight towards where I was going to place the queen instead of clearing away from her. Any tips on how to predict / control where he will go?

He'll go to the nearest building after destroying the first. Unless enemy queen, skellies or cc draws him somewhere else.

Yeah, but there's a little bit more to it than that. Let's say that you have a simple row of gold mines. You want him to start in the middle and go to the left. So you start him towards the left edge of the first gold mine. He will destroy it, then walk to the left to the next one. Good, right? NO! He will position himself as far to the right side as possible to attack that gold mine. After doing that, it's very likely that the next closest gold mine TO HIM will be to the RIGHT, on the other side of the first gold mine he destroyed. He will reverse and go back to the right. So in this case, you counter-intuitively want to start him on the right side of the first gold mine to get him to walk left. He will still go right once to destroy another mine, but then reverse and continue to the left.

Because he tends to position himself outside the bounds of his target building in a somewhat unpredictable way, he doesn't go from one building to the next from the perspective of the building positions. He goes from one building to the next closest building from WHERE HE HAPPENS TO BE STANDING, which is often NOT the closest building to the building he just destroyed. The pattern of reversals gets quite complicated when there are clusters of buildings and not simple lines.

In that case, use another troop (like a Wizard) to funnel the King to where you want him to go.

If you have a row of buildings, you have to funnel the other side with things like baby drag or wiz. If you don't want to, just start your king on the complete left or right of the row (like the building farthest to the right or left) and let him take out the entire row.

^ This, and this is also why there are baby dragons. Use them to funnel and not so much the king.
