I think there should be some upgrades for players to choose from when upgrading their defenses. These upgrades could be available in the Lab or just with the Defenses themselves. These upgrades would give players more customization with their layouts and add a little "pizzaz" to the game.
The upgrades are as follows:
Air Defense
Explosive Rockets: Take down two birds with one stone, except the stone is a rocket and the birds are your enemies.
Description: Air Defense rockets now cause a small amount of Splash Damage, but at a loss of Range.
Level Splash Damage Radius Decrease in Range Level Available 1 .5 tiles -1 tile 6 2 1 tile -2 tiles 7 3 1.5 tiles -3 tiles 8
Wizard Tower
Heat Blast: None Shall Pass! The Wizard tower’s attacks now cause an inferno on the ground, burning any troop that dares to tread in its path.
Description: The Wizard tower’s attacks now burn the ground, causing a small amount of damage to any troops that cross over that area for a short amount of time, but at a loss of Hit-points.
Level DPS of Heated Area Heat Blast time Decrease in Hitpoints Level Available 1 5 4 s -100 6 2 10 6 s -125 7 3 15 8 s -150 8
Hidden Tesla
Static Shock: Zap multiple enemies with this the power of the Hidden Tesla
Description: Hiddden Tesla’s electrical shock can now travel to one target within a certain range of the first target, but can only attack ground targets.
Level % Of Original Damage Transferred Range from original target Level Available 1 25% 2 tile radius 5 2 50% 2.5 tile radius 6 3 75% 3 tile radius 7
Mortar
Defensive Trap: Go out with a BANG! The mortar has been rigged with a giant bomb set to detonate upon destruction, taking its attacker with it.
Description: When the Mortar is destroyed it will cause a large amount of damage to any nearby troops, but at an increase of its blind spot.
Level Damage upon Death Radius of Explosion Increase in Blind spot Level Availble 1 150 3 tiles +.5 tiles 6 2 250 3.5 tiles + 1 tile 7 3 350 4 tiles + 1.5 tiles 8
Archer towers, and Cannons I feel don’t need any upgrades simply because they are very basic and fit a very set purpose. X-Bows and Inferno Towers already have their settings so no need to change those.
These upgrades would cost Gold (not sure how much yet, if I have the time I'll try and come up with some prices) and these upgrades would be available for high level defenses (TH lvl 8+) as specified by the Level available.
NOTE: once an upgrade is unlocked you are able to switch between the upgraded mode or regular mode the same way you switch and X-bow or Inferno tower.
