Assuming the mines were full, this means the TH difference between you and them must've been pretty high. It makes sense that you shouldn't be able to raid tons of loot from THs a lot lower than you.

IMO raiding should be about trophies. It's a major game flaw that people who keep their THs low and trophies low make more loot than those who have high level THs and lots of trophies.

If people keep their town hall level low, then their low level troops won't be strong enough to steal much from higher level bases. Also, it is hard to think people will keep their town hall level low since there aren't many things to upgrade and you can easily max out your base.

You don't need to steal loot from higher level bases. You can steal them from equal level bases or 1 lower. However, as your TH goes up so do your troop costs. Because defenses increase as you move up, it takes more, longer to build troops to accumulate equal amounts of loot from same level targets (ones equal to you).

Naturally people don't keep their THs low forever, however the game favors a strategy of upgrading everything at the existing TH before moving to the next. My point is people who are TH7 and at 0 trophies should not make more loot than people who are TH10 at 3000 trophies, but they on average do.

That's actually very intuative. Do you have an idea how trophies could be used to do that? I feel like supercell tried to do that with increased loot bonuses but from your comments i think you had something bigger in mind.

@dahimi: I hadn't seen that thread before. Very nice ideas. They implemented #1 but I think elixir spells made the rest even worse problems(controversial, yes. I'm not sure if I prefer gold or elixir spells)
