Peabak, I just want to say thanks as I've been using your Ringus base since you originally posted it in Mavios' thread. I've also been watching your youtube replays for the past couple months . I've only been 3 starred once (a very smart hogger who deployed in two groups to break into the core... he/she had lvl 30 heroes too!) so it has been a resounding success!

The one small change I decided to make (when farming) was closing the funnels. This resulted in a few pros/cons

+ Giant healer/archer (imo most common TH9/10 army at 1600-1900 range) can't lure CC with just 2 giants. They have to break into the first layer of walls, which generally turns them off from luring CC. This helped against smarter attackers who would otherwise lure the CC and render the troops useless
+ Archers/Wizards can't easily pick off storages on sides where defences had been cleared by giants. When giants are sent merry go round, I would sometimes lose an extra gold storage at the end on sides where giants had taken out defences (this was more common when I didn't have both Xbows in operation).
-Giants aren't funneled to central spring trap
-Wallbreakers aren't diverted to side compartments
-Wallbreakers might be able to "tunnel" into the core due to not being sent to the sides (unlikely, as it's never happened to me).

Overall I think it is a preference thing, just thought I'd share . Here is a pic of it!

Over the next couple of days I've decided to try and push to masters, so I'm trying out your layout with TH in the middle I already have my first victory over 35 hogs!!! (they got double giant bombed!).

So thanks very much for the base, best anti-hog TH9 I've come across!

    hi again, peabak et al!
..so you will abondon the spike base and go back to your original Ringus?
Will there be any changes though now that your HTs are maxxed???

Or, to put the question more general: you've always said, Ringus fits an early-mid TH9.
What will change for mid to hi-lvl TH9ers??
    thanks & cheers!

No changes to Ringus. The corner positions still work well for zapping wall breakers (they tend to head there) and also being the 'last in line' defence at the end of the funnels. They do a good job of hitting packs as they go through those corners-of-boom.

I'm still experimenting with a spike base but if I release/endorse it then it wont be with the 'Ringus' name. Ringus is all about versatility in the core whilst upgrading and retaining resources. I'm learning that Spike bases are mostly about trophies.

Well, I said that because I used Ringus in my early-mid TH9. I can't speak about what is good for mid-late TH9 until I get the experience myself. That said, I think there is no reason it wouldn't be suitable for 'older' TH9s as a decent farming base.

Ah, my first ever YouTube subscriber! I heard those pro hoggers exist but have yet to meet one myself. Not sure there's much you can do about them.

Ah, I often wondered about trying that out. Thanks for reporting the results.

I think this is what stopped me from trying it. The number of Giants those entry traps caught for me was huge. Also, I love watching Giants being dropped at the corners and immediately head to the funnels. It disrupts the attack before it starts.

Another thing I really like about the funnel, and I didn't realise this until about a month of testing, each funnel starts in the center of a side and moves to the corner. Once a pack of Giants has reached the corner they are in a worse position than when they started the funnel in terms of breaking into the core. The ring adds to the trouble because the Giants just want to break through to the next funnel and continue the ring. I labelled this base anti-hog to get the views but it's much more deadly for Giants (nobody looks at the 'anti-Giant' base).

It's beautiful to watch when it happens isn't it? I think it's important that the defences either side of the bombs are not a Wizard Tower because I think that's what hoggers are looking for and place their heal spells at those points.

You're welcome. Thanks for trying it out.

But you're not using your own Ringus layout right now.

I took a lil peek. Why aren't you using it?

Haha, that's excellent. Not even a piece of gold for each hog used. Are Wizard Towers in the core working out well? I used Mortars in the core most of the time.

You're now deep in 'hoglands' - expect to be tested, especially if you have any loot they want.

Tough to say whether Wiz Towers in core helps or hurts. The only losses I've had have been from air raid. The outer ring seems to be doing its job on any ground troops.

I can say mortars are great at taking out masses of archers trying to pick off buildings for a 50% win.
