Noob Questions

I've been playing the game about a week now and reached level 19 but there's some things I don't get............

1) When I want to attack for Gold and Elixir I use the find match feature, but what it finds is usually garbage ( very little of either res), I hit "end battle" and try again and again and again but rarely do is it come up with anything worth attacking...am I missing a trick?

2) when I have attacked a camp I'm not sure when's best to quit. Do I trash the camp or quit when I've got the Gold and Elixir?

3) Whatever troops I have left after an attack never return is this a glitch or part of the game?

Any hints and tips would be greatly appreciated!!

1. Well, there's a next button in the bottom right which allows you to search faster, but other than that, no. Maybe a different trophy range?

2. You'll get more trophies that way, but other than that, I don't know of any reason to.

3. It's part of the game, to make you deploy your troops strategically and efficiently.
