View Troops and Buildings in 3D — external to game | Suggestion for Supercell

Inspired by Supercell Make that is available for Brawl Stars...

Brawl Stars use 3D models of brawlers in-game, and we can view them in 3D, see their animations, etc
And Under Supercell Make, players can download brawlers' 3D files (only Bo as of now), submit, and share their skins with community.
Those of you who follow Brawl Stars might know about it...

    My idea is:
What if Supercell launches something like a new website or app for Clash of Clans, where players can see the 3D models of troops, buildings etc

The models are obviously built in 3D, but in the game they are implemented as 2D sprites...

CoC is definitely not built to support 3D models in-game....
So it would be great for players to see the troops and buildings in 3D somewhere outside the game -- like on an app or website

Unlike Supercell Make, players will just be able to view the 3D models, and not download them.

Just an Idea that struck my mind...

Ok.. I didn't see that thread.. but my suggestion is slight different
Well, those videos are great, no doubt.. but they are old.

Now that we have TH 13 and many many new stuff

A dedicated place to see any troop or building of any level - in 3D, won't it be a great idea?

    Searched few seconds in google.

For example, if we were to create a new Barbarian skin, you'd have to redraw each Barbarian facing a certain direction. Then redraw every single animation frame of each type of attack. Now multiply it by the number of directions the troop can face and the number of different animations the troop can do. Now multiply that by the different number of levels.

Furthermore, another reason it's ruled out is because each troop level has a relative visual distinctiveness to denote its level. So creating a skin would create three dilemmas:

    1. Would the skin be a single one for all levels? If so, then you couldn't tell what level the troop is. Or...
    2. Would the skin just be for maxed level troops? Then it'd be out of reach for many players and we'd have to think about what happens when we add a new level to that troop.
    3. Would we make a new skin for each level the troop shows a visual change? If so, then that is way too resource intensive when that time could be spent on other aspects of the game.

I am not talking of skins at all...

All I am suggesting is, if we could see the troops in 3D (not to implement skins or anything like that - just view them in 3d like on sketchfab website) that too on something external to game.. not in-game

The troops were build in 3D on 3ds max or maya I guess, and then their 2D sprites ( facing 8 directions and their related animations) were used in the game.
Now in game they look small in size
but when you just want to view them externally, the meshes can be enlarged, or you can go significantly closer to the mesh by zooming in and out.

Wotan I think you didn't understood my idea correctly...

    ...
I don't think the developers will do something like these if it's not implemented in-game. Way too much work just so that people can see them in 3D.
Darian already said no more 3D stuff in game so modelling all these in 3D for something that doesn't go into the game (and hence doesn't generate revenue as such) is not feasible.

Even the hero skins are tough work for the artist in charge of it. So you would basically have to pay for this 3D view if they really decided to come up with it somehow- the designers need money for their work.

Well may be they don't wan't to do it because it doesn't add any revenue to game.. ok I am fine what that reasoning..

But what makes you think the troops are not in 3D and not implemented in game?

Almost everything that you see is actually in 3D and is implemented in game.

    Well listen
The troops and buildings are modeled in 3DS Max or Maya.
Supercell has the 3D models and the files with them.

Just "in game" they are using 2D sprites because they are much more effective and devices just have to play sequence of PNGs.. instead of movement of meshes.

Hero Skins are tough work because they need to make sure it doesn't go very High poly.
There is something called decimation.. in 3D modeling.. that is a method to reduce polygon counts...

For still objects, decimation can be done simply by software..

But when you want to animate objects - it is advised to decimate them manually.
and that's why I think the skins take time.

If only for viewing, then why?

Look at darians post. It was just regarding troops in 3d "skin" like heroes are. It would be needed to draw them for every level and that is tooooo much.

Because a complete 3D model is way different than 2D sprites that are generated from 3D models.
People who request the game to be in 3D, can take glimps of 3D models outside the game, because they cannot be implemented in game.

Wotanwaton, what are you trying to say?

My another attempt to make things clear

In simple terms, "in the game" troops are 2D.

But Supercell designed the troops in 3D on 3D softwares called 3DS Max (or Maya) ( or Z brush for sculpting)

The Devices cannot handle too many polygons and 3d meshes, so there is a method to convert these 3D models into 2D sprites ie 2D png images that look 3D (isometric view)

You should visit sketchfab and check out random 3d models to get a clear idea

There is no question of re-drawing at all, because SC would have the 3D files with them.

    So my suggestion is
To make a platform on which Supercell allows the 3D models to be viewed by players.

Now this is just a suggestion from my side..
    Its all on Supercell afterall

And Under Supercell Make, they made the Brawler: Bo's 3D file available to players for download...
And they will soon start with other brawlers also (as far as I know)
