Sanctuary Valley — the most enjoyable one yet

    In my opinion at least.

I am pleasantly surprised that there are loads of sanctuary animals and that they are very conveniently distributed near the sanctuaries. I just keep making the circuit every few hours or move onto a nearby sanctuary area and do another loop. My valley has collected 21 animals, 18 by me. I’m wondering whether others just gave up the moment they saw the 400 target. That’s a shame because I think now that goal would be readily attainable — WITHOUT diamond expenditure. I like the balloon deco (unlike many of the other transportation themed decos, this one would have looked nice in a corn field), but alas at this rate I won’t get it. Ah well.

As noted in another post on another thread, the key insight is that collecting animals greatly speeds up the number of tokens amassed as well. Two days in, I have 800/600/500, plus 115 each in my piggy bank. I too am just focuseing on animal collection.

I also confess I like the little lucky bonus game on the quest bar — though I drew the bomb after only the second card TWICE (once on my main farm and then on my baby farm). Made me laugh twice though. I dig the piggy with the black moustache — reminiscent of the old silent movies with villains twirling black mustaches, chain gang convicts in striped pajamas carrying black bombs that when ignited have flags that say “BOOM,” and Keystone cops who all pile into old black model T Fords that zoom around in circles. (A more modern take on that trope is in “A Christmas Story” when Ralphie fantasizes about getting the robbers in his back yard.)

As someone who has voiced disappointment earlier in this forum that the valley is a dreary place filled with monopoly houses, for the first time I am beginning to appreciate the potential to add successive layers of fun features to the game board. I hope more is to come. I’m starting to feel a hint of optimism.

I am also doing the same strategy of not straying to far from the sanctuary when i pick up animals. Starting to not get as annoyed as i was initially of the update because after only 2 days i have plenty of tokens already😁

Agreed, the broken down trucks are a total drag and I’d love to see them go (especially now that the time delay will allow animals to escape).

But waiting the 30 mins to unload animals in the sanctuary in itself isn’t so bad IMO since time delays are built into every aspect of the game — growing crops, loading machines, and feeding townies — and I’m used to them.

As for the diamond grab, well, that’s just another part of the game I’m used to, and completely able to circumvent at this level of play. The ridiculous weekly diamond specials are annoying, yes!, but I actually am impressed with how many free diamonds SC has been distributing recently, including the 40 diamond rewards in the valley (which I typically opt for).

I see several features in this latest update that indicate that the HD team is trying to respond to ideas suggested in the forum. The main one of which is the need to add some life (game features) and improved graphics to the valley. So my thanks to the team. I hope they keep developing in this direction — and try to remove some of the blasted clouds!

the animals are much, much easier to get than chickens were. We need 4 times as many, but in my short run in the valley they are 10 times easier to get. In all the previous valley seasons, I only got 2 chickens combined. So far i have 9 animals in 2 days. However, it seems like the others in my valley have fallen prey to the doubters and nay sayers and are not playing/collecting the animals. Too bad people do not wait to try something before they write it off as terrible. Such short sightedness. There are 3 scrolls this time in my prizes and i may have to settle for that.

I would have to agree that this valley is much more fun. At first, it was a little frustrating getting used to a whole new rhythm of valley play, but now I prefer it to the previous ones. The first time I had to pass up buildings that I had already served in order to get the animals to the sanctuary was very discouraging as it felt like a waste of precious fuel, but then I realized how generous the token return on the animals is compared to the buildings so the few extra fuel was well spent.

However, I do find the sun tasks quite boring a tedious. Also, this valley started way too soon after the last one ended. I'm definitely suffering from valley fatigue.

I don’t like the sanctuary valley, myself. For me, I’ve found the sanctuaries are too far away. I liked picking up chickens better. They were simple and you didn’t actually have to waste your gas to drive them anywhere.

few tokens in daily tasks, but collecting animals gives a ton of tokens.
