So why is there no like button?

Just a like button for a thread would be a great addition to the forums, especially for the IFR subforum.
    Through action, a man becomes a hero.🏆
Through death, a hero becomes a legend. 🏆
Through time, a legend becomes a myth and by learning from the myth, a man takes action.🏆
Thanks to Delta for this beautiful sig✌️

That's what the reputation button is for.

At the IFR subforum, it would be good to see in one view: "15 likes" or "2 likes" or...

The rep points aren't really useful for ratings at IFR. I mean, it can be good for if someone posts something funny, or someone ninja's another forumer,... But not for IFR.

The popularity of requests in IFR isn't a reliable indicator of what would be added to the game or we would have had DE for wall upgrades years ago

Precisely. That's also why polls are disabled in the CoC subforum because people would create deliberately biased polls to gather support for bad ideas.

If we had such a thing, we would almost certainlyturn it off in IFR.

As Bakunin says, it isn't a popularity contest. Nor are any changes in COC down to any democratic opinion of the players, as Darian pointed out recently.
