Well written thread.
I, for example, can not bring myself to raid consistently. I raid maybe every half hour even though my army is cooked in 12-15 minutes. Your thread discusses the difference of skill and time. I would have to side with skill in who the better farmer is; If you can take all you want everytime, if you can break into storages with a simple army. Is someone who barches all day just taking unprotected collectors a better farmer than a person who developed a more flexible army but can only play a few hours a day? It really just comes down to opinion here.
"You can try the best you can, the best you can is good enough."
Perhaps if one were to explain, in great detail, what the two strategies were for farming 2.5 gold an hour, we could judge for ourselves?
Cuz I could use a good 2.5 mil strategy :P
this is sooooo spot on. Unfortunately with SC's encouragement towards farming, they took out skill from everyone who is not gemming to max th10 (excluding walls). We are left with "put townhall outside" (whoohoo, great skill based game for fighting and winning) and drop trophies (yay, a game of fighting and winning, uh noooot).
with the latest update, SC told us loud and clear that it is not enough players who can really advance/fight at higher level, so we make it easier to jst create a "new" farming game without apmuch skills required.
-ok
ŠŠ is the best.
This is a great point you made here. I'm glad you and hopefully other realize that you are 100% right on this? it's pretty simple really. IMO in order to see who the best farmers are you would need to see how much gold was raided in a weeks time divided by the number of hours played to come up with an average gold raided per hour. This wouldn't work currently because there is no timer in the game that keeps track of time spent. Soooo...the only thing we really have to go on right now is the profile, which really proves nothing other than if you are a newer player, non donator, big gemmer, etc.. Hopefully supercell will add some more features to profiles..but since the current profiles do not go back to when each player started the game it can be misleading (like me I started a year ago but my GG only starts when update started)

I'd like to point out that examples in which the comparison between infrequent raids(low total, high efficiency) and frequent raids(high total, low efficiency) is not necessary the best tool to judge. Simply because when you raid 10 times over the course of 10 hours very likely you will have all your spells available for each raids. Whereas if you go hardcore and raid for several hours consecutively, chances are you will be raiding a lot with an empty spell factory. Same goes for b-king and AQ availability.
TH 10.
Best Farmer, First to Max this or that, Best "Gem-Free" farmer etc. all these titles are only relevant here and to a certain extend. In reality, majority of clashers do not care about farming or won't believe that lava walls were farmed.
Forum users (so called farmers) created all these titles as most of us would never appear in the top 10 worldwide and it is only natural for competitive nature players to create sub categories. Otherwise daily grind becomes even less meaningful and more of a complete waste of time (it truly is). If only SC gave more meaning to local league rankings, I think more people would be interested in that.
To me personally, the best farmer is the guy who introduced farming to me. The guy who explained trophy system in layman's terms. The guy who told me that one goblin could go a long way in sub200.
P.S. I must be the worst farmer of all as I still do not have a Christmas tree....
im the best farmer since I always make wheat and corn
