I agree with OP, I think the game needs a update that will allow greater interaction among clans, the ability to forge alliances, wars, small things that would make the game more interesting or different, I certainly would like to see some new campaign elements. It's all matter of opinion in the end. I think they do need to do something significant.

Totally agree OP.. There are a lot of "vertical updates so far for my past one year of COC-ing (i.e new def levels, new TH levels, new traps upgrade levels.. Yucks) but there ain't much "horizontal updates"... Yes there have been a "few" nice horizontal updates but its really not much and majority are user interface improvements thats all..

Dont misunderstood me.. I'm not totally into clan wars.. It would be fun to have it but maybe limit to only once a month or every two months. I just feel there should be more clan oriented activities and events to be introduced.. Like a trophy push every 1-2 months with gems or boost rewards, xmas trophy push with rewards, little reward every season for the highest donation, simulated attacks against clan mates, etc etc...

its just surprising how how much "resources" SC have - be it staff overheads or capital etc.. But yet updates after updates.. They seem to be unable to produce all these aspects or maybe they do want to at all.. Just my opinions..

    Cheers~

In all honesty, I think Clash of Clans will stay for years...
That's what zynga thought when they bought drawsomething.

They need to inject more funds into the game for the revenue it makes. That's the small and big of it all really. They have legitimate competition now, half of the forum peeps here reside there too. Half the clans here reside there too ... lol. With a lot more community gameplay already implemented by competitors, they would need to play catch up now. I hope they do.

I pretty much agree but remember this is only a mobile game this is the best it's going to get. It's not a computer game, Play Station or XBOX game just on a mobile device. When you're getting bored while waiting for troops I usually go to Hay Day or Boom Beach.

Drawsomething wasn't even similar to clash and besides if you google for 'games similar to clash of clans' you can find at least 30 and growing. How about you cannot mention google?

(Excluding big gemmers from this argument/comment)

There are two big philosophies in game development (many more, but this is one thing that requires major considerations). 1, do you want to hit the masses (kid friendly, easy for grandma, tons of players, not to complex so everyone can play it, etc). OR 2, make a more complex game but maybe not be able to attract as many players.

For CoC, they have two core aspects of the game they can focus on.

    1. Simple game. This essentially is what is done now. Encouraging farming, encouraging players to stay in ranges that are not particullarly challenging only to get more gold. Or what others referred to as cook, raid, repeat.

    2. More complex game. This essentially would focus on progressing upwards, encouraging advancing trophies, more difficult fights. Award progression in trophies vs. awarding farming.

certainly not saying it is easy, there are core parts of the game design that determines how the game come out. And I believe that the game was designed without the huge success in mind. (As SC said, the loot system was designed for max th8, etc). So, for the past year, SC had to determine, do we go for the masses or do we go for the complexity?

But given how 2 is fading more and more (not critizing the farmers and the joy 1000s of people get from a more simple game) i believe it will have a slow player-drain. And this is based on the fact that SuperCell is releasing Boom Beach (same type of game as CoC) with a different core design to it. I can see the majority of us moving to Boom Beach as we love the game/style and Super Cell.

apgain, there is a group of gemmers that are able to play the game at a more complex level. Not saying it does not exist, just that it is not possible without gems at this time.

    -ok
