Where does "Coconut Loon" come from?

I know it's a loon to scout air mines but why is it called coconut?

    Thx in advance.

I've never heard the term myself, until this thread.

Maybe they call it that because the death damage from the loon dying and falling is part of the strategy - it falls like a coconut.

To my knowledge only people in war whales used this term. Didn't know it was more widespread than that.
