Too many bugs to be able to decide if I like Valley or not

It has been dawning on me over course of last day -- as I drive aimlessly in the fog of the Valley and read others' forum posts -- that the number of bugs/ glitches encumbering the new Valley make it next to impossible to tell if it is any fun or not. In other words, many people are voicing frustration with what they assume are game features, when in fact they may be bugs OR those features that would be ameliorated if other game features were operating correctly.

Example #1: I played on and off for several hours yesterday -- Valley completely shrouded in clouds and NO OTHER TRUCKS other than my own visible. Then in late evening for 30 mins I could see other trucks, a notice for a group task to earn a chicken, a notice that another truck had broken down. Now again this morning, the Valley is a ghost town. Obviously, the inability to see other trucks and building signs is a significant glitch.

Example 2: This morning I started a delivery task with a 3.5 hour timer, went back to my farm, and when I returned to Valley a half hour later the delivery timer had expired. I reloaded the game and, presto, the delivery timer had reset to the correct time.

Example #3: After my truck was repaired by another person, I lost (6?) fuels! But the next time I returned to the valley the missing fuel magically reappeared.

I know from reading other forum posts that these same glitches are happening to other people, but they don't even know they are glitches, they assume -- understandably-- that they are intended game features!

In fact, I am coming to realize that the glitches are so systemic that it is truly impossible to assess whether the Valley would be any fun at all if it were operating as intended!

It is hard for me to fathom why SC would roll out such a flawed product, to such fanfare, when they should have been able to predict the massive consumer fallout that would follow, especially after all the raised expectations they created. It's as though they are TRYING to lose customers? Wouldn't beta testing have helped prevent this? Sure, SC may fix some of these glitches (and judging from past track record, maybe only a few and those only some of the time) -- but won't it have lost a significant base of customer support/ loyalty in the process?

Take heart, PittyPoo. We’re in the middle of a game wide beta test. It’s why this first season is only 2 days long. I think it should be longer TBH. But every reported glitch and weird action is helping SC fix things. Nick just announced a maintenance over in announcements and they’ll deal with some of the stuff we’ve grumbled about.

Yes, Boston Girl, we shall see, but I'm jaded by their inability to fix the personal train. This appears to require efforts many orders of magnitude more than that thorny problem. But hope springs eternal

Just give them a little bit time.. You can't expect that everything will work perfectly from the beginning. When you entered the valley it said 'trial version' so they warned before head. Just give them time be patient they know what's wrong and they do their best to fix it.

“Children and fools shouldn’t see things half done.” And nowhere is this more evident than here!

It’s a very intricate gameplay - “coplicated” as my friend Lorna used to say. So learning how to play is difficult and a lot frustrating. But you must have to have a hide like a rhinoceros to be a game designer.

Thanks for the moralizing sermon Missliquorice, but I am neither a child nor a fool. My post, unlike yours, contained substantive information that might be of use to SC or other players. I think I've got the "complexities" of this game covered and likewise can tell when I'm discoursing with those out of my league.

^^^^^ SPOT ON! I can’t figure it what is going on, what I should be doing, whether my neighbors are engaged or not because everything either fails to load or keeps changing. My truck hasn’t broken down yet - but gotta say, if it does, I’m done with the Valley. Whatever happened to nothing bad ever happens and nothing dies in Hay Day?

What an utterly ridiculous comment, maybe you & miss liquorice should run off & play while the grown ups have a discussion to improve things...

Here’s some ideas I had posted in another thread:

I also have been looking for a long time for a way get off the derby death march - especially since we have so-called “special” derbies every week now, which disrupt derby play with no chance to recover.

But is The Valley it? Not sure yet. It’s frustrating and slow and buggy and just when I started seeing some strategy to it, my truck breaks down and I have to wait 2 hours (or pay 20 diamonds - NOT).

“Rewards” stink too. As does the RNG hell of spinning for fuel. (Random-number-generated)

As as a Game Specialist I really really REALLY want to stay positive and be motivated to help and support other players.

Now I’m frustrated and annoyed at the bugs and the new truck-breakdown element of the game that actively deters progress.

One of the best things about Hay Day that made it so calming and fun was that nothing ever died and nothing bad ever happened.
That changed slightly with the derby, but at least you could opt out and play normally otherwise. Nothing bad within the game would happen to you to stop your progress cold. Until ... The (cloudy) Valley. Dun-dun- DUNNNN!!

I recognize this is a beta test for the “real” roll-out later. But MANY MAJOR changes to mechanics and features (not just bug fixes) are going to have to happen for me to want to come back to Cloudy Valley:

*We should be able to have excess sun points carry over after we earn a fuel spin

*Those of us who have finally finished all the &$@#*% animals should NOT have one of our big prize slots blocked with puzzle pieces

*The truck should not break down, but if it must for balance reasons, then your friends should not have to spend their rare gas to come fix it, and there’s should be a reward for them. If no friends are in The Valley (increasingly likely), it should be an option to call on Greg FOR COINS

*Quests that can generate in 0 seconds should do so

*Gas should be available in other ways except just by suns, as a reward for gameplay IN THE VALLEY for example. There could be item caches at locations for each player in the Valley to find, or a specific location to visit for restocking that would recharge. The rechargeable location could be visited several times a day, but the cache is gone after it is claimed.
