Kat also confirmed SC's subsequent error in pricing on the replacement BoH (i.e. 925 not 500 gems).

Kat can you also confirm SC will credit any players who purchased the BoH at the wrong price with 425 gems? I assume SC would not wish its loyal players to be adversely impacted by its own error.

Sorry that is something Kat doesn’t know and cannot do. I have no say with what support will and won’t do, I can’t go sit in their seat and make promises like that. There is however a player report in this thread somewhere who said they got the 425 gems back after buying it and messaging support about it. I haven’t seen it actually happening myself so I can’t give a definite answer whether they will or won’t.

However if you did buy the book I always say you can always try to contact them and ask them about it. Maybe they will refund it.
If you don’t ask when you’re in that situation you’ll know for sure it would be a no, if you do ask you might get a yes.

However i do have 1 comment to add: if the bug was the other way around and BoH price would not go up by 425 gems but would go down by 425, i think we would have seen a quick fix to it right there on the spot.

Every company can have software bugs, not complaining it happens, but the way SC handles those issues leaves a bitter taste...
Quite frankly I do not know, they might have just left it also as it’s not possible to buy multiple books from the trader at any time, they might have left it alone and people might have been lucky if it happened to them. There’s little point in speculating about it and even more little point to start a conspiracy.

This problem rose to the surface when they tried introducing more of our beloved BoH in the cycle late Thursday. Friday was June 21 also known as midsummer, when the summer days have the most hours of daylight. In Finland that’s a time for festivities and celebrations for a couple of days with generally people being off work.

How would you like it if your boss called you in to work on a holiday for something relatively trivial which could’ve easily waited for a little ?. And yes I’d call it relatively trivial if it worked both ways here. Let’s get real for a minute because without Thursday's maintenance people seeing the 925 book wouldn’t even be seeing that book in the first place. And sure I can’t blame people for not buying it because 925 is just too much in my opinion.

Now one could argue why have maintenance that late / close to being out all weekend. Well for starters they wanted to try and get as many bugfixes into the maintenance as they could. Generally they don’t like the game being down too often or too long. So they try and fix as much as they can within one maintenance. Furthermore with any maintenance there’s a lot more work involved then just the 20 or 30 (or something) minutes the game is unavailable. From identifying an issue, reproducing it, finding a fix, testing it and monitoring it there’s lot of work that goes into a maintenance before and after.

So leave the tinfoil hat in the coat room at the door, it really serves no purpose and adds nothing here. Even though I do understand that you don’t like how they handled it then just say that and leave it at that.

PS, for what it’s worth, I too have the 925 book in my shop offer currently. I too am out of luck here.

Thanks Kay for all your patience and explanation in this thread. 20 new hero levels and a non-sensical BoH trader price would’ve been a real kick in the builder huts. Anxiously awaiting the next maintenance.

Not many and I wouldn't suggest anyone do it. I'm just saying those who are seeing the higher price aren't losing out on anything. Their hero book offer didn't just suddenly go up. Instead, they got a hero book offer they normally wouldn't get at all. It would have been a different book if not for the change. Their 500 gem hero book is still in the trader cycle just like before. Hopefully, by the time the new one comes around again the bug is fixed.

Contact SC here. Click here for how trophies are calculated. An idea to improve legends here. I wish max players had a separate loot bank as described here. Caution, I often discuss for the sake of discussion and enjoy having my opinion challenged (or approved of) even when I care little about the actual issue. My balance wish: get rid of tornado trap, make it a decoration.

The mods aren't officially affiliated with SC, but are privy to some things we aren't and have NDAs (which is why being 18 is a requirement).

To find the BOH at 925 gems was not fun. To hear all the comments about it from others means I'm not alone. However, the items in the daily trader are extremely over priced, the BOH is the only thing I buy, and even at 500 gems it's a stretch. 10 wallrings, the shovel, hero potion, to name a few, are so over priced. It's a waste of time and space to put these in the daily trader.

I would assume if the prices were lower, more people would buy them. Higher prices and people will not buy them.

SC seems to be more about getting the peoples money rather then offering the people better deals. The rewards in the clan games have been decreasing as well. More and more in game purchases come up to offset the lack of rewards and deals through the game

To sum it up, I'm not impressed with how COC has increased the dollars required to play its game

If the prices of some items have not changed since the trader was introduced, I am sure SC would have adjusted them if no one was taking advantage of the offer. Just because it is not valuable in your eyes, does not mean any of the other 100 million people playing the game do not find it a worthwhile investment.

Or, they won't change the price so they force people to buy those items at those prices. Everyone I've talked to in my clan, and outside of my clan, all agree those prices are ridiculous. Common sense dictates the same as well.

Force? does SC send guys in black suits to your house and make you purchase trader items or threaten you with bodily harm if you dont?

Now you're going too far. Clearly I've hit a nerve. Relax a bit.

Maybe "force" was a wrong term. What I'm saying is, if you offer anything at a set price, no reductions or discounts, people either buy it for that price or not.

Several people on this thread have indicated that the BOH for 500 gems is the ONLY THING they buy. So, let's assume they don't spend any other gems on anything else. Am I still wrong with my previous statement? Or am I just one of many that think the same about the outrageous prices SC puts on items in the daily trader?
