I haven't been attacked enough to drop below 4900. Maybe I should have put up an easier base! While on vacation the last part of last season I did drop from 5748 to 5183 if I recall the numbers.
Can we have a verified answer from supercell or any other player that they will refund the excess gem if you buy the BUG Book of hero from the trader?

Not sure who this 'we' is you're referring to? Please don't DEMAND stuff from SC on my behalf or that of my clannies. And also, check the meaning of 'need' in this context.
The other thread is there for a reason ... if one can't read, this thread won't help either.
If SC hadn't changed the books, you or anyone else wouldn't have been able to buy BoH from these slots.
In the other thread there's a full explanation of what happened and how they will fix it. And also the response that at this moment everyone that has posted and bought at the wrong price, got their gems back, but KK can't give any guarantees as she doesn't work for SuperCell Customer Support ...
well, they haven't fix anything. I have another hero book in the store and cost 925. they told me to actualize the game and that will fix the problems. it hasn't.
I'm assuming with 'they' who told you, you mean customer support? That is a good thing to report here... as far as I know, nothing has been reported as 'fixed'... SC was [is, i hope] working on a fix, but it would require maintenance to update the table [see the long thread about this subject on the front page]. It might be an idea to send another message to the support person who asked you to do this, to tell them that their option isn't viable at this time. CS is done by another firm, not in SC headquarters or something...

Had exactly the same problem.
I bought a shield for the last day of last season as was away all day.
I think as for you the same for me.
When the shield was active, it wasn’t clear it was - as shield status in HV was ‘none’.
On looking at the ‘attack screen’ I had the magnifying glass going round as if was searching for attacks.
I didn’t have time to look at it till the next day but I had been shielded.
So agree is a bug, just needs changing so you know when you’re shielded. And since (in Legend) it doesn’t come into effect till the next day reset - a ‘time till shield comes into effect’, countdown would be good.
The shield interface does explain it but just to clarify, you can't buy a shield for today. You can only buy a shield for tomorrow. This is to stop a player from trying to abuse the shield system by attacking early in the day and then putting up a shield to prevent them from getting hit for the rest of the day.
Buying a shield in LL opts you out of the system for the next x days.
Also if you buy a shield for tomorrow you can't dump the shield tomorrow. You can only dump a shield for a day that hasn't yet started...
If you can't attack still today after buying your shield for tomorrow then I would agree that is indeed a bug. Although somewhat easy to work around by only buying your shield after your last attack for the day.

My account finally dropped below 4900. But only by 27 cups. It still says I have 8 of 8 attacks remaining. So assuming I'm still in LL. So another 16 plus hours that I can't attack or risk getting stars that will keep me in this restricted play. I will never again climb back to Legend. Just no way to actually "opt" back out of it. I will have 20 trophy drop attacks to get away as far away as possible if I could just lose trophies! Hate being a Leader in my clan with a blank shield but sure don't want a Legend one again!
Ok finally got out of Legend. Fortunately 4 people attacked me on the last day! Now I stayed up to do some trophy drop raids and first I got clouds, then finally a base in about 5 minutes. Dropped queen and ended! -35! Perfect. Hit search again and it clouds for 1 minute exactly and kicks me out! There is a message on the screen for a second but not long enough for my old eyes to read! what is going on? Waited 2 days to get out of Legend and still can't do attacks? Did you guys go on vacation?
