Dark Elixir Drill Boosting Questions

I have one drill going to level 5 (5 more days). The other drill is currently at level 3. Should I stop the level 5 upgrade and start the boost? For the other drill, should I upgrade to level 4 (4 days) before boosting?

But I don't thinking boosting plays a role in the math game as I will continue to boost every day until Jan. 7. Hey, it comes down to what you want more. Elixir or Dark Elixir. There are 16 days(including today) left of the boost.


L4 DE drill makes 60 per hour, that's 1440/Day. 1440*16=23,040*2(boost)=46,080 DE
L5 DE drill makes 80 per hour, that's 1920/Day. 1920*11(5days off boost)= 17,820*2(boost)= 35,640


46,080-35,640= 10,440 DE more @L4. But canceling the upgrade means you lose 2,000,000 Elixir. So 2,000,000 Elixir or 10,440 DE?

I just did the math (I hope it is right). So boosting now with lower level will yield more during the boost. The one from level 3 to level 4 isn't a lot (1440) and level 4 to 5 is 5760 DE.

I'm not a math genius but I'll try to help.

Level 4 drill produces 60 DE per hour.
Level 5 drill produces 80 DE per hour.
You have 5 more days left on upgrading the lvl 4 drill to 5. Means that IF the ugprade is done, you can start boosting on the 28th. Means you have 10 days to boost, from the 28th to the 7th.
Or 15 days if you start right now with the level 4 drill.

DE production (per hour) * boost factor (which is 2) * production per day (in hours) * days of boost

Calculation for:
Level 4 drill, boosting starts right now (15 days remaining)
60 DE * 2 * 24 * 15 = 43,200 DE
In words: if you start boosting your level 4 drill instantly and constantly up to the 7th, you'll get a total amount of 43,2k DE.

Level 5 drill, boosting starts after upgrade (10 days remaining)
80 DE * 2 * 24 * 10 = 38,200 DE
In words: if you start boosting your level 5 drill instantly and constantly up to the 7th once it's done upgrading, you'll get a total amount of 38,4k DE.

So that's a difference of roughly 5k DE.
I personally would say: continue to upgrade the drill, that's not toooo much. Also take into consideration that you paid a bunch of Elixir to upgrade the drill!


Now the level 3 drill. Upgrade time from level 3 to 4 takes 4 days.
So you could start boosting that drill on the 27th, means you'd have 11 days to boost a level 4 drill.

Boosting the level 3 drill instantly and constantly to 7th January:
45 DE * 2 * 24 * 15 = 32,400 DE

Upgrading it to level 4 before boosting and then instantly and constantly boosting:
60 DE * 2 * 24 * 11 = 31,680 DE

Very slight difference there.

Good choice. 10,000 DE is nice but don't forget it's over the course of 1/2 a month. And once the boost is over you'll upgrade your drill anyways, and it'll take another 18 days for the DE produced at L5 to make up for the down time while upgrading. So going for 10,000 DE now will cause you to lose it later.

think outside the box. u can easily farm the boosted dark elixier in 2-3 raids at 1.7k+ troohies. just keep upgrading and boost ur barracks and spell factory only.
