We've been wanting to introduce a 6th Builder for a long time. This update provided us the opportunity to do so, while creating an interesting, and perhaps fun, way of tying it to the Home Village.

There are always challenges when we try to introduce a new feature to the game. Especially one that players have been wanting for a while. With previous Builders, there was an ever-increasing Gem cost tied to it. So when it came to a 6th Builder, there was a no-win situation for each:

Have players pay for 6th Builder with Gems: OMG THIS IS A CASH GRAB! SUPERCELL IS JUST GREEDY!
Give players the opportunity to get a 6th Builder for free: OMG YOU'RE FORCING US TO PLAY!

Yes, there are progress advantages to having a 6th Builder, and we knew going in that this feature could be potentially controversial among some subset of players. This was also one of the reasons behind the Builder Potion price adjustment in the League Shop.

When we said that we wanted to minimize how Builder Base affected Main Village, if you harken back to my earlier posts, you'll see it largely refers to the Gear-Ups and how beneficial those upgrades will be for players. Having a 6th Builder, again - does provide a progressive advantage, provides very minimal tactical defensive/offensive advantage.

BB was not necessary and doesn't add anything to the game (until now).

For me BB is and always will be a mistake.
The fact SC keeps adding things to force players to play it only proves how bad BB is.

Their views may coincide percentage wise.

Well, I agree that vocal minority is louder than silent majority. But we don't have the stats that majority players like bb. My opinion on this is, whether players like it or not, most casual players don't have time to play both villages vigorously. So, plus BB is more competitive than main village, so it's even tougher. The hardcore war players also don't really give attention to bb from what I have seen.

But as MasterEdy said, majority-minority, %, etc doesn't matter, point is bb and main village shouldn't really be that connected. And the other point is, if really majority players enjoyed playing bb and are silent, then SC wouldn't even need to add this new reason for players to play bb.

Well I think the hate against the BB for many people boils down to this:

It‘s a one on one combat situation. Not as much as Clash Royale but much much more than the main base. I and many other people I know who still stick to Clash do this precisely because Clash multiplayer is *not* one on one combat. I hate games with a live opponent. I would never have picked up Clash just like I tried and quickly dropped Clash Royale. This is no fun to me. If I‘m in the mood for combat, you can meet me on the mat or challenge me for a match of Chess or Shogi.

To repeat: I absolutely hate computer games that involve live human opponents. And I love clash because it doesn‘t. And then you force the BB on me, Supercell, to continue to play the game I love above every other one I ever played.

P.S. Similarly for Boom Beach Battle Ships. And then you do not even keep your upgrades - they are reset each season. Absolutely worthless.

There are a number of players on the forum, that are very vocal about their opinions about the Builder Base .. they do not represent a general trend among the entire player base.

There are about 100 million players ..

Would people voting with their wallets mean more than matemagic? Because this speaks volumes about "the smashing success of 2017" downplayed by a "vocal minority"

Oh do we stand by for anything SC says or do for extra green internet points, maybe a trip to Helsinki for a few chosen ones? I mean, seriously, can I get free a trip to Helsinki? Thank you SC for the builder base. It's perfect, it has an "interesting twist" on community requests and people just can ignore it if they want to. No one is forcing them to do anything! /s (unless I can actually get a free trip to Helsinki, then I take down the /s. I can even show up your cool socks on your youtube channel. I have big feet. ).
