After the th12 update was released, when we started to restructure the clan, our war weight approach to Clan Wars has worked incredibly well for us for a year and is continuing to work well for our sibling clan, Rising Flames (#28RY2QOGG).

However, Clan Wars notably changed once our 4 most active members in Falling Fire started to reach town hall 11. Then, as of almost 2 months ago, engineered towns started appearing like crazy. We have never experienced engineered towns in Clan Wars, to this large volume, prior to more of us reaching th11.

We will remove what is not working and stick to what is working still.

    Thanks for the conversation.

As you have probably realized it is a factor of where you are at in the game. The engineered are stuck at th11, and dont bring much to clans with more than a few th12. It will be a limited experience for your clan as you keep upgrading and your clan moves on to th12. You may need to sit your th11s for some wars and keep doing lower th wars until you have enough th11 or some th12 and these match ups are no longer a problem.

Best of luck and dont let this limited time speed bump become a bigger issue to your clan than what it really is. It is a speed bump made up of players who the game is passing by.

I agree, bases that were built pre the update and have structures missing should either be not allowed to war, as they do not meet the games current building requirements, or, if supercell don’t wish to stop these players fulling playing the game, then the missing buildings war weight they would bring at Level1 should be added to that accounts war weight. (And of course if they later choose to get get one of those items, war weight is not effected).
Now if you think these bases have no effect or bearing on wars, or disadvantage a clan now, more then advantage it, this change still doesn’t change that, and if fairly adds the weight that Supercell clearly now believes that TH level should bring to war (otherwise this building change would not have been implemented.)

Didn't they try to make a rule that would let you place all your buildings in order to war?

SC have implemented a rule where one has to put down all the 'new' buildings for a TH level before being able to up the TH. But there's no 'rule' that anything has to be on the war map, if that's what you mean.

And what is being spoken about here by many is the type of defenseless/lopsided/engineered bases that still exist from before that time [when TH12 was introduced]

I checked your information in cocp.it and looked through your last few wars. In my opinion, the reason you are running into more engineers is because your Th spread is too large and you appear to be low loading (a form of engineering). Hence the MM will have a bias to matching you with others of your playstyle. Problem isnt with the MM, its with you.

I feel like this is a problem that won't be as big in the future as to progress to th13 the bases will probably need every building - reduced times and Gold Pass perks will quickly help low level players outclass these rushed bases, which may not be able to upgrade to new troop levels without building everything in the future

Engineered bases are at an extreme disadvantage in CWL. Rather than doing away with engineered bases, change over to a 1 hit per war format. This will help rein in modding (if it is still happening) and level the playing field.

This is strongly league dependent. Engineered or extremely rushed bases are only a disadvantage in the more competetive part of the leagues. I would say from crystal I or master III upwards. So for a very small part of the participating clans they would be bad. For the other million clans there is nothing better you could do than stategically rush a couple of th12 alts and play cwl with them.
