Since Update — Builder potion doesn’t work after logging out of iOS device

Builder potions are supposed to reduce the time by 10 hours per potion. I had 5 upgrades of varying times from 5 hours to 11 hours. I waited a few minutes and it was working fine. 6 minutes later, all my upgrades were reduced by 1 hour.

I logged out and returned to the game in time for the first upgrade to end. When I returned, I discovered the builder potion had reverted to 1:1 time, so none of my upgrades were reduced during logout. (It was as though I had never used the builder potion.)

This has only happened since the update. I noticed it before but thought it was my imagination or miscalculation. I now have proof that it’s happening after I log out of an account and into another one using SCID. Has anyone else found this problem on any device? Is there anyone who can explain it?

Is this only happening when logging out of your account? I had a similar experience, although I only have 1 account so it wasn’t after logging out, it was after just closing the app. I asked about this using the in-game chat, but don’t have a clear answer yet. Support is saying that this is the way it’s supposed to work because of the builder boost “perk” from the season pass, but it still doesn’t make sense to me. Did you buy the gold pass as well?

Thanks for replying, Joaker. This doesn’t make sense to me, either.

Yes, I bought the gold pass. Just to clarify, I use SCID for several accounts and logged out of the current account and then used SCID to log back in. I haven’t tried staying logged in and closing the app while a builder potion is being used, but I’m sure the same thing would happen—-loss of builder potion boost.

I have a maxed th6 on Silver Tier with a builder potion that I’ll never use. (Keeping it at th6 for clan games.) I’ve been hoarding gems on that account so the 10 gems from selling the potion, makes no difference to me. I’m going to use the potion to upgrade the town hall and after 6 minutes, test to see what happens when I just close the game (not log out with SCID.). (I’ll cancel the builder after the test.)

I’ll report back here when it’s done. Darn, needs to be th8. I’ll finish that test and then use a th8. It will be a really good test of both kinds of bases—no tier and silver tier. Back in a bit.

    Update:

No matter what I do, I can’t replicate the problem. Tried different accounts in Silver Tier, logging out, logging in, closing the app, leaving for 15 minutes... boost kept going. I can’t test another base in gold tier because there’s nothing left for builders to upgrade.

Maybe someone else can try using a builder potion on gold pass.

Based on the responses I’m getting from support, it seems to be an interaction with the builder boost perk (which is only available on the gold tier). It’s basically the same as when you activate the builder boost perk during an upgrade - it will only reduce the time if you haven’t already progressed beyond the discount you would normally get. The example they gave is if you have just started an upgrade that takes 10 days, and you get the 10% builder boost perk, then it would reduce it by 1 day (10% of 10 days) to 9 days remaining. If you had 9 days and 1 min remaining, then it would still reduce it to just 9 days. And if you had less than 9 days left, then it wouldn’t do anything. Now, I don’t really understand why they do it that way, but whatever.

What I do have a problem with is that they now say the same thing applies to the builder potion! And when I commented that I basically had wasted a builder potion, their response was: “I would not go as far to say wasted, it had an effect but since the boost from the Season Pass is bigger than the x10, it does not amount the same cumulatively as when used on its own!” I really don’t get it - it’s never been dependent on how much the upgrade had progressed - no matter if there was 1 day left or 10 days left, the potion took off 10 hours. And then they basically told me that if I want it to work like it used to, then next time to use the builder potion when the builder boost perk isn’t active! ♥♂️

It’s stupid, but now I just want my builder potion back.

That has to be the best formulated answer I have read in the forums for a long time. I really appreciate the trouble you took to share that information as no one has mentioned it any of the stickies and I have to wonder how many people have been impacted, and might not even know it. Thank you!

I’m sorry you didn’t get your potion back.

P.S. I gave you a rep point but not sure you’ll be able to keep it because you don’t have enough posts.
