Please don't drag the ever lasting CG argument in this discussion .... those 50 points could very well not be irrelevant at all, as you know has been stated by SC/Darian for as long as the CG are here ... CWL and medals is something entirely different.
The contributing nothing definitely isn't by choice for many. Period. That's what's relevant to the discussion at hand.

We believed (author´s note: past sentense) in the power of simple, fun game play.
The weaker members can be rotated in for only 1 match to get 2x the rewards of doing nothing.
My TH8 was in Masters 3 for April. It was put in for 4 wars and managed 90% of the medal bonus by attacking off-center town halls. While we had 5 TH9s and a TH8 in the bottom 5, the clan finished in 3rd place.
if you are doing 30 v 30 in masters with decent th12s, then you are costing your players medals mathematically.
for example, if you are in M1 & win 6-7 wars, then you will get 9-10 bonuses but if you divide your players in half and do 15 v 15 in 1 clan & another 15 v 15 in another clan, then you will get 18-20 bonuses in total for all of your players.
A clan with 6-7 wins will get promoted and likely get 0-2 wins next season. The bonuses balance out.
A clan with no TH12 in Gold 1 would have a max 172 medals for 4th place. The same bottom 15 will get 364 medals for a 4th place finish in Masters 1 30v30.

If the clan ranked lower in Masters 1, they would drop 20-30 medals across the board instead of 192 medals for the bottom 15. They don't get promoted and risk losing bonuses in Champs 3.
I agree Onyx, clan games is different, but for the opposite reason noted by Rhaegar. In clan games those players who contribute nothing to completing the full points do so by choice, while those not contributing in war league are often willing to take part but aren't allowed to, yet are willing to stick with the clan. If it was up to me and I was forced to choose, I'd flip it around and give more to the bench warmers in war leagues and less to the players in clan games that get only irrelevant points. I guess if it was totally up to me I'd give more to the bench warmers in war leagues (not full though, but more than 20%) and I'd keep clan games as is, but I'd let leaders set minimums or tiers if they want.
Both sides sound reasonable, it is an interesting issue.
