    How are new moderators chosen?

I was just wondering out of interest how one becomes a moderator and what that entails. Like, as a moderator, is there a pay? Do you have to go to SC HQ ever? Do you get in-game perks? How often is a new one chosen? Why and how is one chosen? Are moderators SC staff or players? Do moderators get early announcements and information to help answer questions?

Moderators are unpaid volunteers. New moderators are chosen by the existing moderators. There's no application process, but generally you need to be a game specialist before being selected to be a moderator. They get to go to SC HQ once (maybe twice) per year. They do not get any in-game perks. They do have access to update information ahead of time but are required to sign a NDA (non-disclosure agreement) before officially becoming a moderator. Essentially they cannot release any non-public information unless superecell authorizes it.

I read something saying you need to sign something so you'd need to be at least 18 and they only pick new mods when they need one. So chances of becoming a moderator is very low.

Not that I am trying to become one, but I am curious

    Thanks for the info!

Out of interest, what is a Game Specialist?

Everything Phoenix said is correct, though you don't have to be a game specialist first, most of us were.

Failed to mention the hand to hand combat with nerf guns and soft plush toys from the supercell store is part of the selection process.

That and you need to do Holps washing.

I was imaging a scenario more along the lines of the moderators standing in a circle around the new moderator in hoods and robes in a dark candle-lit room quietly chanting "One of us. One of us"

I thought it was Holps socks no? (or perhaps that was some other piece of laundry )
