Variable number from 7-8 to 11-12 depending on the clan, by my personal experience (rest being TH11, occasional TH10 fill in). GL

Well, ironically we did just get promoted to Masters 1, with 15 TH12s...but we did run a 30v30 CWL!

Risky? I'm not sure about that. I've commented on our first 30v30 season in Masters 2 here :-

Even in Masters 2, activity (or lack of) was the key to us getting promoted! And that takes leadership and communication within your clan, to ensure you get 30 attacks in every war, regardless of your roster!

Sorry if I resurrected this post! We are in Masters 2 since (and including) March 2019 season, so this May is our 3rd season there. We first moved up in Feb 2019 running roughly 4 Th12 7-8 Th11 3-4 Th10 by barely winning on % over 3rd place in total in Masters 3.

First results in March we were 5th place and 247 stars, we were running 6 Th12s, 7 Th11s, 2 Th10s.
Second results in April we were 6th place and 222 stars, we were running 8 TH12s 7 Th11s.
Third season not sure but we might be running 7 Th12 or 8 Th12 and the rest 11s.

All I can say, Masters 2 is a BIG jump we have encountered (we initially seeded in Crystal 2). We are outgunned every war but win like 2 wars. Most wars have 9+ Th12s and the rest Th11s. We did get lucky with some clans running some engineered Th11s/ Th10s and lower. I'm worried we'll eventually get kicked down to M3. Having strategy is key, for example having Th11/low Th12s hitting max 12s..

The ones who got promoted in March to M1 was 12 Th12 3 Th11 (the other 7 clans had less Th12s) and the ones got demoted to M3 carried around 3-4 Th10s/engineered Th11s at the bottom. The one who got promoted in April to M1 ran 14 Th12s and 1 Th11, the ones who got demoted to M3 were the clan that had 4 lower than Th11 (2 were Th9s!) and the one running 3 Th10 at the bottom. My friends clan who was in M2 got promoted to M1 with 14 Th12s 1 Th11s. Hope this helps

Only 1 clan gets to go into Masters 1 and this is the the cutoff point for TH11s.

If you bring a TH11, you're unlikely to make it to Masters 1.

Thanks for the nice info/ writeup. We were able to scrape together 15 th12s this season for m2. Albeit we have so th12s with not great walls, but we made sure everyone has 5 star town hall. I think we will be in position to win this time, but we will have to earn it!

Replying to OP: Was that 15v15?

We have 17 decent TH12 (bottom 2 are new TH12s but already maxed cc, camps, giga tesla and were max TH11s). Currently in Crystal 2 doing 30v30 and stomping. Finishing round 2 with 89/90 dropping 4% to a timefail as a guy got cocky...

Funny thing is last month in Crystal 2 it was a lot harder and we finished 3rd 5 stars below promotion. This time there is no way short of people missing attacks we don't finish 1st comfortably. Odd that its the same league... question is which is the odd one out? Did we get an abnormally hard C2 last month or an abnormally easy one this month.

Yes 15v15. I would confidently say that you need 15 th12s in master 2 to be able to advance to m1 especially since now they only take 1 clan upwards.

Did you start the war on the first day for both wars? Some posters say that the competition is weaker on the 2nd day search.

3rd Season M2, we have stayed here again, earning 5th place We ran 9/6/0, so 9 Th12 and 6 Th11 (number of Th12/11/10). One of the 12 is very new; I still counted it as a Th12. So far for breakdowns and skill...

Round 1: Enemy ran 7/6/2 and were mostly mirror attackers except for their top 5-6. Their 11s and 10s scored a few 1stars. They ended 7th place and were demoted
Round 2: Enemy ran 11/4/0 and are highly skilled. They had excellent base layouts and their attacking strategy was good. close and fun war but a loss. Solid 4th Place
Round 3: Enemy ran 9/3/3 and not only did they run 3 Th10s, 2 of them missed attacks and one of them got a 0star. base layouts were outdated and we scored some 3stars on their Th12s. Wrecked them, 8th place and were demoted.
Round 4: Enemy ran 11/4/0 and not only mirror attackers but they weren't very skilled. they missed 2 attacks and their layouts were also outdated. Easier win than we thought. 6th place
Round 5: Enemy ran 13/2/0 and they were a beast on defense, probably the strongest on defense out of our group. but every war they seem to get a bit lazy and miss 1-2 attacks. Their attacking strat is ok, but I think they easily be #1 without their faults. 3rd Place
Round 6: Enemy ran 13/2/0. Their bases aren't the best but man can they strategize so efficiently and attack so great. 1st place, undefeated and promoted
Round 7: Enemy ran 11/4/0. Very similar to Round 6,except they had a 2 Th12 deficit. Despite this, they won against most other clans, including the Round 5 clan that were lazy to use all 15 attacks every war. They clutched 2nd Place

The ones that have been demoted are the two that run 9/3/3 and 7/6/2 breakdown (round 1 and 3). The clan that is clear as day, getting promoted are easily the round 6 clan with 13/2/0.

They just blow the other clans out of the water with their strategy and execution and skill (i.e th11/low 12s 2starring high/max 12s and then their strong 12s hitting mid 12s and lower for 3stars)

    TL;DR
Don't bring Th10s if you wanna stay in the league, UNLESS as a last resort-only bring them if you have skill in the rest of the roster to back it up. If you plan to move to M1, having a ton of Th12s is needed but its not enough; you need to show you are worthy of it! Base layout and strategy is key

    Hope this helps

Updated above post and added tl;dr at bottom. Also, what I've noticed is that the clans that were promoted to M1 (in our previous M2 groupings) seemed to have quickly relegated back to M2 again. Not sure why but it's something I've observed
