I'm a TH7 pushing in Crystal II, but when I was around 1600-1900 I used BAG (Barbarians, Archers, and Goblins) to one star bases by taking out the outer buildings. After 1900, I had to rely on mass dragons + lightning spells. I have a link on TH7 and Crystal League in my sig.

8? Not really, with the barrack boost, it should be like 2-3 hours of consecutive playing.

Depends where they are starting of course but 2-3 hours would be extremely fast.

Assuming 1300 start point (which is probably even a little high for a TH6)

700 trophies to climb. ~7 trophies on average per one star victory, so 100 victories. To pull it off in 3 hours you would have to search and destroy an exposed TH faster than once every 2 minutes. They're common but not that common.

I have not thought of using archers to reach to crystal lleague. Using dragons and the lightning spells are pretty expensive and I am sure that there is another way. As a town hall 7 I have not been able to pass the two thousand and four hundred trophy.
