One forgets how many products have tomatoes in them, and how long it takes to build up sufficient numbers of crops like tomatoes, lettuce and strawberries so that one can actually do something sensible with them. Also, it is a novelty to be producing eggs again. I have been buying them since I was at about level 45 when I needed the barn space for other things. Of course, at the moment, my barn still echoes so I can stockpile eggs as much as I like. All in all, I am really enjoying this.

    Cheers, Mikey!

I am now one week into the challenge. The farm looks quite normal again and I now have 10 each of 31 "terminal" products and numerous others well on the way. It's all rather fun and I am glad to doing the challenge.

Another report will come in a few days.

Thanks to all for the encouragement 😊

    Started yesterday

I have a level 106 farm, 4500 barn, 3050 silo. So far the hardest part was emptying out my barn lol.

I did not chop down all my trees and bushes, it would take too long. Instead, I bought one of each and I won't harvest from any of the ones I already had until the new ones mature.

I also didn't use up all my nets, traps, and lures, I grabbed a screenshot of how many I had and will only use new ones.

I decided not to include metals, my smelters stay pretty full and I didn't want to wait. I did get rid of any ores and mining tools I had though.

Waiting for crops to mature is TORTURE lol.

I've been thinking about trying this for a while and I'm out of the derby this week and next so I decided this was a good time to start. Unfortunately, I happen to have Tom for a few days. I'm using him only for metals/jewelry to fill blue truck orders or sharing him with the neighborhood. Nothing else.

My goal is not just 10 of each item, instead I will refill it to it's former levels. Depending on the item that could mean anywhere between 20-100 of that item. A few things I keep a stock of only 10, like coffees and even less like pizzas.

    So far it's pretty fun!

Congrats on starting the challenge, Almosta. Hope you enjoy it a lot. I think it's a great idea to use your Tom for the metals/vouchers while doing the rest of the challenge.

Please keep us posted on your progress.

Well, I'm down to the last few products now, just the feathery ones and a few lobster ones to finish as well lemon cakes. I am carefully doing trucks at the moment, only filling ones where the products are easily replaced using machines that would otherwise be idle. One by-product of doing this challenge is that I will really appreciate playing "normally" again! It's been an interesting experience.

    Do I dare?

I have been watching this thread with great interest. As I have pretty much completed the game ( and let's face it the update was pants) I am gradually building up the courage (or madness I'm not sure which) To give it a go. It's not like I haven't sold off my barn before but at 2200 items I'm extremely attached to each and every one.

I have smelters full of ore at the moment and the derby just started. If I was to start prepping do u think next Monday would be an achievable date to start? ( omg I feel faint just thinking about emptying my barn)

VickyD, it's actually harder to sell off the barn and crops than you think. Since you are participating in the derby this week, try to do the tasks that will help dwindle your supply, such as boats and trucks. And I would try to do all your tasks as quick as you can. Then start helping your hood mates and friends, sell them excess of premium goods. Common items would be best sold at default. You may find yourself needing a bit more time to sell off, so opting out of derby next week may be helpful.

Usually I do not place the ad when I fill my RSS, but you may need to, especially when listing crops. I picked up a few new lower level followers that resold crops at full price, so I felt like I helped someone that needed it. One left after realizing I don't usually post "the really good stuff" and 2 are still around and helping to water and fill boats. This is a great challenge and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Darn! And I was hoping to reap the benefit of her scorching. (Not that I really needed anything). Anyway, good luck Vicky. You are more daring than I'll ever be.

Thank you for the advice. I need to re read through the instructions. I'm not going to chop down all my trees and bushes but rather use the edit mode to relocate them in to a corner. I am indeed doing truck tasks so that should strip my barn quickly. Now which version to choose? Any other tips please would be great!

Definitely move the trees/bushes to the side if you prefer, though I found it very cathartic to remove EVERYTHING. It helps you to remember that these aren't real buses, they aren't real things, just little digital trinkets that can be replaced much more easily than we lead ourselves to believe.

I really would suggest you not try the Metal Illness mode the first go-round. It can be incredibly boring and frustrating one you reach a point where you are just waiting for mining materials to drop. It's a real slog at the end waiting for just one more shovel only to get one, use it, and STILL not get the platinum ore you need.
