If the red box you click on is locked, get off the box by clicking somewhere else. It can be to the side if the box, but I find it safer to click on the avatar on the friends bar. Then click on the avatar again to reopen/refresh that farm, and the box will be on the farm somewhere without the waiting time. If you click the x the waiting time for a new box to appear is random, could be up to 40ish minutes.

if the box opens, collect your goodies, go back to your farm and harvest something. I keep a small amount of wheat on the go specifically for this when i hunt red boxes. Go back to the other farm and the box should be there again.

you can try a LOT of times to find a box that opens. 50 odd boxes not unusual.

On .greg's farm the red box is usually on the road, hiding just behind the tractor at the road entrance, behind the farm house (look for the sparkles) or under/behind the big tree to the right of the house. Also, since the new land expansion, in the new strip of land at the bottom.

    hope that makes sense.

Some days I got more mining equipment from wheating and hardly anything from the red boxes. Other days I got it all from red boxes.

Keep on selling the wheat and advertising it. You need quite a few boxes to do it easily so it helps to have lots of friends or buy extra slots with diamonds. Keep advertising, you get a new ad every 5 minutes. Use it! Advertise a new wheat box. Some days I've had to advertise 4 different boxes before someone swoops in and buys everything.

    Good luck!

Thanks very, very much for the tips! Today all I have had is saws, axes ( admittedly useful but not yet ) from cropping/feeding and the mining thing will be problematic as I never get many of those items anyway. Oh well, may end up being the longest challenger in history!

Zara- don't think you will be the longest at all as Sandra and I took at least 2 months lol
i found selling 10 wheat for 1 coin helped to sell- also got CK3 during challenge so now on 98/99 :-))
good luck- will be around to give encouragement in the NH whenever you need

Yes, Thanks! 50 times? No wonder it didn't work, I haven't got the patience for that! Lol.
Have sent a friends request to you, lots have trouble with me on GC. It's the paw print that does it.

Greg's farm is torture though. The last 2 days he is offering dynamite and TNT! Such a waste, I can't even buy it to sell it on to friends as technically it's a purchase and that's against the rules!

And yes, my two NH SE Survivors are heros! I am in awe of their achievements and patience and indebted to them for helping me prepare for this.

    Disillusioned now

Doing this challenge certainly highlights the flaws and biases in this game, namely getting MINING pieces.

I have harvested and harvested both animals and crops and have had an abundance of saws and axes, and everything else, yet have been lucky to get one Dynamite, TNT or shovel a day. And, yes, that includes opening red boxes, not that I could keep up switching around for long..but I did try a bit. I have never had 100+ milk churns in my bar, coupled with so much animal feed (to use up surplus crops) EVER!

At the end of the day, for the BASIC challenge itself, to see how fast it is possible, just add up the JAM to see how long it takes and then add 16 hours for either you to have 4 strawberries (3 needed for a jam) or an Apple tree to fruit.

Rough calculations total a minimum of 301.20 hours or 12.55 days.

I did this out of frustration, as I basically have made 10 of everything made now, with the exception of JAM and pizzas, which take cheese. I have 13 cheeses left to make the remaining pizzas and then need another 10 cheese to total those produce up. Also, because of the new machines, I also have to make sure I also have 10 spare mayo, soy and curd. Feta also needs doing, but there is no rush.

Why? ..because all my agonising over what dairy & sugar to make first was pointless. Even with all those cheeses etc., I will be sat on my hands because the JAMS are still nowhere near completion. Apple and Raspberry are accounted for, currently on blackberry, cherry and strawberry still to go!! Hours and hours of them left.

Boring now, and frustrating as I can't help people still or do my own boats even as I cannot use products I am still acquiring.

Also forgotten how long I have been taking, should've read back before I posted, lol.

Little footnote: also getting difficult as I am holding items I don't normally store in my barn, the common DD stuff. Also, a friend suggested, the game gives you what you don't need, so I sold all saws and axes and kept & didn't use mining equipment ( which will slow down the MI part) so I had more of those. It didn't work. Still got more saws and axes! Sighs...

I have just read a few pages of this thread and it is totally interesting!

Just this past Monday I opened up my last plot of land. I did a total renovation of my farm. And since I had 1.5 million coins, I decided to spend them and buy the BRT (I started a thread about this if you want to see the picture)

After I bought it I only had 50,000 coins left so I sold off a bunch of stuff in my barn to build up my coins again.

In just five days I have over 200,000 coins and my barn is nicely stocked again.

I think I will try this challenge when I get 1 million coins again.

Currently my barn is at 1500 so I already have the space.

so, I will come back once I am back up to one million coins!

Good luck to those who are currently challenging themselves.

Zara - you will get there and be able to help others as I know you want to- there is a bit where it all slows down (about 5 weeks for me lol) but it's so great when you mine that last bit of platinum!!!!! if you need anything just shout in the NH and I will give you it😊
