Wars are decided by the anchors at the top.
Low bases at the bottom of your roster have to be offset by additional weight in some other part of the roster. This is the core principal behind roster engineering.
By bringing TH 5s, 4s and even 3s to war you have (unintentionally) engaged in roster engineering. You should have an easy win. The other team should soon appear on the forums to complain.
UNICORNS! I want unicorns. Any clan that gets a 3 war win streak should have one villager replaced by a frisky little unicorn that frolics and gambols about the village. Let's make this happen.

Was a time I would agree Papa. Unfortunately SC seem to have filled in that particular little hole.
We had a couple of nice years where keeping our bases fairly balanced, whilst forgetting to drop IT, meant all we had to do was include a couple of bottom feeders for a pipe and slippers war much of the time.

It transcended into matching with similar line ups, then degraded into fighting uphill much of the time.
It appears to me, that they have a system that weights accounts in such a way as to almost give an impression of hall matching (at the higher end).

It is more likely, that there is a definitive gap between each hall level to induce competitive draws.
But, due to the "weight gaps" between halls, it means those that use bottom dwellers dont gain the expected advantage, due to the minuscule weight those accounts carry, in comparison to the roster in general. Hence they are pretty much discarded, and simply become dead bases.

I agree that any weight given away will likely be recouped elsewhere. But if the weight is diminutive, then any benefit wont be noticeable.
