if the system passes leader to a co that isnt the ideal successor then you would argue they shouldnt of been a co.... Leader was in active so couldnt be demoted or even kicked..... there lies the problem
    I do not know.

Well maybe that leader is inactive now but that said the co who shouldn’t be co was once promoted and that should’ve never happened and that’s on the leader then.

To be safe do not make anyone co who is not suitable to accidentally get the leadership role thrown in their lap.

In most players world this is such a non issue with the crazy AI and the vendetta the Queen seems to have with walls anymore and need I speak to the elephant in the room of the clouds? I think this is a bad waste of time for such a small % of players but hey I just play the piano in this old saloon.
Just because it’s not an issue for you doesn’t mean it is not important to many others.
Fixing clouds as you say also only affects a very small % of the total game so by that logic tey shouldn’t be fixed either ? Ok I’ll pass that along to SC because a solution for this is a helluva lot more work then this QOL. But I’ll tell them to stop with that project. Will you explain it to all the people complaining about clouds ? Ok thanks!

Ok back to a slightly more serious answer. “Just leaving” or “simply starting a new one” is not an option if you’re in a level 10+ clan.
Quite often the clan had been together for years when a leader becomes inactive. They want to stay together and not lose the progress they worked so hard for.

    example...

Leader is inactive and never logs on and nobody knows where or what has happened..

2 Co-Leaders in the clan and were both promoted to Co at the same time

Co-Leader 1.. Very active in chat and has assumed the role of Leader and supports players and even jumps between sister/feeder clans to donate troops all the time.. to do this he has recently promoted a mini base to co so he can get his co status back. he then leaves with his mini and rejoins to remove co status. he is well liked in the clan and everyone considers him the leader.

Co-Leader 2.. Very rarely comes on and only really does clan games for rewards.. never wars and doesn't really talk on chat. If the leader was active then he would have been demoted. He has never left the clan since he joined.

    Who gets Leader?

I would guess Co-Leader 2... so what is Senior Co?

this will hopefully sort out the clans currently in this position... but a better mechanism for succession planning could be easily developed for the leader to select a co-leader for future leader/Senior Co-leader.. just create a senior Co-Leader level between Leader and Co-Leader... problem solved!

Some things that have not be mentioned

    1) What happens if a Leader is inactive and there are no Co Leaders in the Clan?

    2) What happens if not only the Leader but also all the Co Leaders were inactive for more than 90 days?

So, what happen the the leader once his clan is removed from him/her. Are they demoted to co leader, elder or member.
Also, Supercells terms of service state: SUPERCELL RESERVES THE RIGHT TO TERMINATE ANY ACCOUNT THAT HAS BEEN INACTIVE FOR 180 DAYS. To me, this reads like I must log into my account at least every 180 days to keep the accout active and operate within TOS. So, if we can be inactive for up to 180 days before the account may be terminated, then the clan leadership shouldn’t be effected until then also, as I am operating within the terms of service.

According to the official SC twitter account, leadership will be passed to elders, if there is no co.

I don't think this got answered very well. How is the longest tenured Co-leader determined? Consecutive days in the clan or earliest promotion to co-leader or simply co-leader that joined the clan the earliest?

The confusion lies in the above post. If the Co-leader that has been in the clan the longest happened to leave to donate to another clan is not the one that receives leadership then there's a lot of clans that are going to get the wrong leader.

    I like this change.

To explicitly control the order of coleaders getting control, you could temporarily demote all co except for your first choice, then promote them back to co in the order that you want them to become leader should there be a nuclear war or something and half the coleaders are too busy fighting mutant cannibals to log in.

I have received an answer about the no co situation.

So if a leader goes inactive and there are no cos then it goes to the most senior elder.
If there are no elders then it doesn’t transfer so no hopping into inactive clans to try and take over a free clan.

It really would be impossible to code human intelligence as to what would be the best choice for a co leader logically. The best choice a leader can do is to manage the clan and don’t leave it hanging like that.
