Quite simply no. once the update happens. the 90 day timer will start.
I have painstakingly read this whole thing. my kudos to Kitty Kat K for not snapping!
my thoughts:
I feel like I understand the mechanics of what will occur once the update hits.
my question, or maybe its more of a request is:
Will the current active leader have a way of knowing who the successor Co-Lead is? if not Can we have this information provided in some form? like on the edit page for example.
this goes in line with someone's request to actively designate a choice successor. not sure how plausible it is, but its a request.
The clan I run is super chill and very laid back. however I do not have a lot of inactive members in it because I feel like they don't have anything to add to the success of the clan moving forward. IMO they can sit idle clanless on the server, or in someone else's clan should they start playing but not come back to our clan. (In the case of long time Co-Leads; I have a process to demote to Elder->Member->Kick/Invite.. within the Season... so no 90day timer on my clock... I was granted Leadership of this clan from an old acquaintance who did not want to tow the load anymore. I implemented some changes so I don't think the longest tenured Co-Lead will ever be inactive on my watch.
I am in the boat of Call me H, where I hop from 'my' clan to the clan where I have some buddies and my main acct's clan frequently for war and/or donations... so knowing a potential successor would be good information as an active leader.
anyhow I do like this system despite the not so popular opinion of some posters in this thread.
currently its not a problem in my clan, and I would hope that if anything my clan mates would uphold the activity 'policy' I have in place now should I step down, or something happens that I cannot play for extended timeframe.
I don’t think we will be able to see who the successor will be but I agree that this would be a nice QOL. Although I have to wonder if that wouldn’t be problematic as you can’t really change it unless of course the co in question leaves the clan temporarily.
Having the option to appoint a successor is also one of those things that may be nice to have however it can’t fully replace this system as we still need a system like this in case leaders don’t appoint a successor or the successor would be equally inactive with no back up. In those cases a clan with an inactive leader problem would be back to where we were before the update with no solution. ( If I remember correctly it was initially suggested to have the appointment option instead of the automatic system )
