    My theory: (and advice)

    Supercell do not ban this. (Please)

    I think supercell knew that some players would quit due to their impatientess. However, they also knew many would buy gems to get shields and gold during this peroid (especially because of dropping loot).
    So they didn't exactly "want" people to quit, but the many who have have suddenly increased the economy (75% i bet will come back at some point). But they new some would quit, but that was fine as it was only going to help the loot system.

    So.. I've concluded stay at your farming ranges or wherever you are just until 2014. If loot hasn't got better by then then i don't know what to do

    Thanks. Oh yeah you can also just break even every day if your still feeling loots dry. Just wait it'll all come flowing down.
