Hi Darian, any update about when this API will be released for developers?

World Championships registration site went live several days ago, but I don't see any updates about this token verification API in the Clash of Clans API Documentation (or anywhere else on the internet).

I see Clash of Stats is already using this API since last week. We also have been developing supporting tool for Clash of Clans for quite some time, and this Village Verification api is just as necessary for us .

There was an optional update that enables it for everyone in game. Aquafina, and many others, would like to know when developers can actually use it.

Can this token be used for user impersonation with the already-published API?

We know that it is important for serious war clans to keep the war log private, because otherwise your current opponents will join the last clan you warred against and watch all your replays to 3 star your bases (or at least find out where your traps are). But this affects bots that are designed to help the clan, like Sidekick.

With user impersonation, I could supply Sidekick with my API token, and Sidekick could use that to examine our private war log and provide the SK services. War log would still be private, so that would stop the cheaters and ensure fair play.

EDIT: I tried using the user API token directly as a Bearer authorization to the current API, and it doesn't work.

Pretty sure the in game API key is only for identity verification (ie: A user provides their player tag and the third party tool is able to use their in game API key to verify they have access to that account as the key matches). It cannot be used for pulling private data such as a war log set to private.

Currently, yes. It cannot be used for anything other than identity verification. Supposedly they are developing the features around the API token though, and this would be an excellent way to use it.

Pretty logical to expect developers to be able to play with own or player's clan's private warlog data to produce informative statistics.
Ideally only a player would know their own API key. So, clan leaders can expect to get assistance from bots like Sidekick without having to make their warlog public, if the API key is allowed for such privileges too.

I would also like to use this system to verify players' identities in my Discord bot. This request is a year old now with no usable API information for developers. Only letting some sites use this mechanism stifles innovation and introduces hurdles in my development that I would not have to worry about, if only I could verify a player's identity.
